You will never be truly happy, and you will always have this lonliness in your heart - until you accept Jesus Christ as your personal savior. Amen.

Wow. There are so many errors of understanding of evolution theory here, that I don't know where to start.
There is no such thing as "most evolved", or even "more evolved." An earthworm is just as "evolved" as a chimpanzee. A sea sponge is just as "evolved" as a human being. So the idea that one variety of human being is more "evolved" than another has no meaning whatsoever.
Second, all human beings are the same species ... so it is doubly meaningless to ask which is "most evolved."
> "Was evolution theory used in the beginning to show that white people where superior to other skin color people?"
Any good idea can be misused to justify any bad conclusion. Both evolution and Christianity have been used to justify horrible racism. The writings of Adolph Hitler make a few references to evolution, and many references to Hitler considering himself a Christian.

No, evolution hasn't been used for for discrimination. The theory's only been around for about 150 years. There has been racism for as long as we've been here. Also we've all evolved the same since we haven't needed to evolve since the first modern humans. Also ema_n_luke0305 do you believe we came from a mythical creature in the sky? If so you're the one who's not superior. Now tell me which one sounds more realistic? Coming from a mythical creature in the sky or a rock.

It was in the beginning, but science has shown this not to be the case.
Scientifically, there isn't a white race and black race. These are social constructions that occurred in the last 500 years or so. Skin color and genetic differences are not related very much. It's like saying people with green eyes sunburn easily. Well, in general that's true, but not because of the green eyes. Green-eyed people are more likely to have paler skin, which in turn means that more of them will burn. But the color of the eyes DO NOT DETERMINE whether a person burns or not.
The same way you look at eye color you can look at skin color when talking about other genetic differences...

This is not really a valid question. You can't really say any animal species is more "evolved" than another, yet alone individual populations within a species. Some animals are more complex than others, but neither 'whites' nor 'blacks' are more complex, they just have different traits.
In the beginning? In the very beginning? No. It was a theory to explain why we have the types of life we have today. Later, yes, eugenics led to pseudoscientific racism in the early 20th century. So? Christianity led to racism in the way they used religion as an excuse to exterminate whole peoples; that doesn't mean it was created as a genocide tool in the very beginning.

Yes, during the Victorian Era, evolution was used to 'prove' racial superiority of whites. This was because of severe misunderstandings of Evolutionary Theory towards its beginning.
Since that point, Evolutionary Theory was also used to justify social eugenics, the intentional sterilization or destruction of undesirables.
In short, people have used Evolutionary Theory as an excuse for all sorts of atrocities.
Does this change the fact it is true? Or does it just mean some people didn't understand either it or morality?
Does the fact Einstein's General Theory of Relativity enable the creation of the Atomic Bomb mean he was an evil man, and/or that the GTR is false?

All living members of the human race are members of the species Homo Sapiens Sapiens. There are little in the way of measurable differences in the mental acuity or physical abilities of the different races.
We can say we are all equal because we are all very closely related.
By the way, evolution isn't about "better." Evolution is a neutral principle, doing what it has to do in order for a lineage to keep going. No value judgements about "better" or "more evolved" are implicit to the changes evolution causes.

There was a time when a few racist people tried to slant evolutionary theory to say things like that, but it's not considered appropriate in this day and age, and nothing of the sort has ever been proven to me in anything that I have ever read. It isn't better, just different. Darker skin is an adaptation to warmer sunnier climates, folks who live in hot places need more melanin in thier skin, while those who live in cold cloudy places don't need that, and so don't develop the extra pigmentation. If anything, it is a drawback to have less melanin, when your family originated in a cooler, cloudier place, and moved to a warm sunny place, I should know, I am very fair skinned, and having problems with skin cancer from over exposure to sunlight, I don't live in my family's country of origen.

Sorry, the difference is in skin color in because of adaptation to a specific location and not another chain in evolution, its very similar to the size of the ears between Asian and African elephants, just an adaptation. Everything else is the same.

I believe that some have used the "evolution theory" to support their own racism. Also, the story of Cain & Abel has been used to support racism. (I believe the interpretation was that the "mark of Cain" was darkened skin, and therefore, blacks were descendants of Cain and were therefore a cursed race)
I think religion is used MORE OFTEN to justify racism than is evolution, which isn't surprising, since there are more people in this country who are religious than are not.
People who are racist will justify their racism through the prism of their own beliefs. If they are bible believers, they will look for affirmation of their racism in the bible, if they are atheist, they will look to science, nature, or whatever to justify their racism, if they are of another religion, they will look to the sacred text of their religion to find affirmation for their racism.
Racism and prejudice exist in every group, and all sorts of "theories" have been used to rationalize it.

It was used by people who were ignorant racists. These people were not scientists but people who were trying to use science to promote their own ignorant ideas. According to evolution and genetic studies a white man from london and black man from south Africa are completely indistinguishable aside from the obvious superficial differences.
