Mot Expired But Test Booked

Provided the car is booked in for remedial work or a retest (at the garage which failed it in the first place) within 10 days of the MOT expiry/failure date you should be fine.

The obvious way to avoid this situation is to book the car in for it's MOT before it expires then you have ample time to take any remedial action necessary before expiry of the current certificate.

You are not legal to drive unless you are actually driving to a pre-booked MOT test. If you drive now, you could get a fine, penalty points AND your insurance company would be within their rights to refuse to cover you in the event of an accident. Your insurance premiums would increase too.

Keep it off the road until you have had your test , you can drive it for your test , but if caught before , you will have a charge against you and may possible have the Police impound your car for being on the road without a MOT, then they send it to the crusher, you must realise until your car actually passes the test , it is deemed unroadworthy.

If your mot has run out you are also driving without insurance .
Leave your car at home ,you only be insured to drive to the test centre .

as the re test is apppointed, you can indeed drive it there.
A mechanic can also drive it on trade plates, so as to do work on it or move it.

Otherwise you will get a fine for driving it.

No points tho.
