I love this question. I think it would be beautiful if we could all do that.

sorry for the long answer.
That is a beautiful question you have made, and one full of hope and love. The problem is that there is many people who does not want that, and you can not concentrate your thoughts to a point that you can influence their decisions because you can not violate free will. That would be like making the whole world to zombies.
If you look carefully you will see that there is an evil force that does not permit good honest people to go into positions of power where they can bring a change in the world. And when there are some who go a bit higher they are later compromised and subdued by evil.
Apocalypse in the way the Christians see it is not a moment of destruction of the planet, but a moment of destruction of those evil powers on earth, whether angelical or human. God has said many times I will change their heart so they can see and stay in the good path. And he says the righteous will inherit the earth.
Thing is there is more earth than this, so it could be in another planet.
Today it is the devil who have make humans believe that the meaning is the destruction of the world, so they see it as inevitable, And in a way it is but most humans are making it happen, not God, Christians know that, and they try to bring a change but the the evil forces have infiltrated even there, and many are lost, divided and confused (denominations, etc)
Jesus knew that and that is the reason he seems to say: As you believe so it will be.
I believe that is the reason for scientists and politicians etc. to be looking for another planet. We do not know exactly what the end will be, and we don't even think much about it because we feel safe and we have nothing to loose within our faith.
Today I heard about Bush claiming Independence for Kosovo, but I don't see why not to claim for Independence for California, or Boston or New York. Or how to save the planet as you said. How to change the system of oppression of the poor, and salaried enslavement. They spend the time expanding and grouping together for a plan of world governance that does not include God's justice, faith or morality. Then they die of old and
pass to history as great leaders without achieving nothing else than feeding their ego, their pockets, their stomachs and their evil hearts. And can you touch them, can you change them? well God sure can and will. In the name of Jesus we reclaim our world an salvation. And we do not need to fight because there is one greater than the universe fighting them. And we will win, even if we have to die and rise again. And I have the feeling that I will see you there.

The Universal Theology of the New Jerusalem doesn't focus on the end of the world. That happened in the 1700s before industrialization.

Yes, I think that it would be possible. It's hard to say goodbye to the old ways though and it will take a long time for us to do it. I just hope that the planet can survive in the mean time.

I often wonder what the world would be without apocaliptic prophecies.
Why aren't tehre prophecies like.
Competent people will rise to power. the world will get more comprehensive and reasonable.
there will be renewable energies everhwyere.
Men created heaven on Earth.
There isn't anything like that. It's boring. It's not even motivational.

No of course not. Religion has nothing to do with destructive weather patterns. Or the exponential increase in earthquakes, tornadoes, and hurricanes over the last century. It wasn't religious thinking that created weapons of mass destruction (America.. Russia.. China..) fully capable of obliterating man's existence. Reading bibles can't cause famines ("We are the world"...), or pestilence, or deadly epidemics like AIDS, and then teach us to have as much irresponsible sex as possible to contract it. Do you think wars are actually waged for love of God? Try for the love of MONEY. Nothing religious there. We love people and the earth. This is our family and home, respectively. But what will come will come.
God bless

It would be great but you have those who are stuck in their old thought forms and refuse to let them go.
Maybe one day people will open their minds and understand there is more than what they see.

We'd be alot better off if the religious would quit it with their doomsday predictions. No wonder the world is hell with those attitudes.
