Well one day after a half day of school, I had to watch my sister because my parents were out of town for the evening. She kept bugging me to go to the mall, so I took her. We went into all these stores and she kept buying stuff. Then we went into Claire's and she found a bracelet she had to have. I told her no, you spent all your money. Then my mom called me, so I picked it up and talked to her. I told me sister, just stay here. But while I was talking, she walked off, but I couldn't chase her in a store while talking to my mom. After a couple minutes, she hung up and I went to find my sister. She was sitting in a chair with her hand handcuffed to the chair. She tried to steal that bracelet. Some man asked if I was the sister. I told him yes so he sat me down, and handcuffed me to my sister. Within minutes, that cops came. They talked to both of us. Finally, the said we'd have to come down to the station. So he handcuffs me behind my back (very embarrassing because I'm still in my

school uniform that we wear to the Catholic school we go to) and handcuffs my sister in front of her (and she was the one shoplifting). Why is this!? Well we got there and they told us to wait in the car while we we’re being checked in. Finally, we get in. We’re told to sit down on a bench while they contact our parents. But they take off her handcuffs, be keep mine on behind me back. Again, why? I did nothing! After awhile in the station, our mom came and we we’re both in trouble. I can understand this a little more, but why was I treated worse when I did nothing?

Handcuffs are used as a means of control, to prevent a person from harming herself or others, and to prevent escape.
You sister is younger than you, and the officers probably saw her as not much of a threat. You are probably bigger than your sister, and you were angry. The officers apparently saw you as a threat, so they used the handcuff position that would give them the most control.

you can sue who ever put those cuffs on you im thinking it was mall seceurity and this is very illegal and happens often in large chains like wal mart security there has to visually see you pick up the item conceal the item and leave the store with the item to stop you. You could file a law suit and they would settle dont take that from them. This happens alot of shoplifting and many people like you sue and WIN.

How many times are you gonna keep getting handcuffed in your school uniform and be innocent! You really need to be a writer because you have come up with some good fictional stories!

Well, two things:

1. They might have thought you an accomplace.

2. You were responsible for the actions of your sister. She broke the law, and she was under your care. They were looking at you not being a very good person to watch your sister, since she committed a crime while in your care.

You just asked this question, and got all sorts of good explanations. What are you doing trolling for the answer you want? You really should read the question though and make sure you don't change the details. Here you go though, your additional 10 seconds of attention.

Wait, now I got it. You are working for a news service and are trying to lure the pervs in here to your email/im which you have conviently left available. LOL,

Welcome to the world of being a grown up. Right or wrong, you were responsible for your sister while you were watching her. Should you have been treated worse than she? Probably not, but for all they knew you set her up to it. You were the one in charge. Now imagine what it is like to be a parent! They have to deal with this possibility every day!

In any case, you need to have a serious talk with your parents about this. Tell them how you felt. It was not fair to you, and your sister should be disciplined for what she did to you.

They handcuffed you in the back because you're older.
You got in more trouble because you're the older sister.
When they pull the store video (and they will) - if you didn't do anything, you won't be in trouble.

The moral of this story is:
Don't take her anywhere with you.

Because you look like you still had money, just you wait, they will try to shake you down for "adminstrative fees" for having "dropping" the charges after they called the police. It is a racket by the store's and the security companies they hire.
