forgive all people incarcerated with marijuana charges ?

Most of the marijuana we have comes from Mexico anyway.

Alcohol is legal, processed
cigarettes are legal, processed
only because you have to pay your government for it.

MJ is illegal because you can grow all you want at home for pennies. That is the only reason it is illegal.

People are locked in cages over a plant mother nature/God gave us. While 12-15 million criminals are crawling all over our country breaking all kinds of laws. Pathetic.

As far as I'm concerned the pot dealers in jail for such a trivial crime "were just trying to make a better life for themselves"

DevilDog you don't have a clue do you? Alcohol kills more than all other drugs combined.

"Fuel their addiction"

We're talking about pot.

I think the American citizens got their message through to our deaf - dumb & blind congress. It took a lot of effort but they found out that we KNOW the existing policy, though flawed, is better than the JUNK legislation they were proposing.
First, secure the borders and enforce current laws.
Then, work on correcting the problems with new legislation, well thought out and NOT just thrown together!

I believe potheads are also locked up because they commit crimes to fuel their addiction which leads to harder drugs, killing innocent people with driving under the influence. Both groups should be treated the same - jail time.
If idiot are bent on becoming burnouts move to Holland or Mexico, it's that easy.

I don't give a crap which kills more, the key word is KILL. BTW, alcohol is a drug.
You think you are less of a dirtbag because you were a pothead and killed a family on vacation rather than a drunk? Instead of smoking it you may want to learn about the effects and statictics:

Marijuana Statistics
Marijuana is the most commonly used illicit drug in the United States.1

The percentage of youth aged 12–17 indicating a great risk of smoking marijuana once a month remained unchanged between 1999 and 2000 (37.2% in 1999 and 37.7% in 2000).2

Marijuana contains more than 400 chemicals, including most of the harmful substances found in tobacco smoke. Smoking one marijuana cigarette deposits about four times more tar into the lungs than a filtered tobacco cigarette.3

Harvard University researchers report the risk of a heart attack is five times higher than usual in the hour after smoking marijuana.4

The risk of using cocaine is estimated to be more than 104 times greater for those who have tried marijuana than for those who have never tried it.5

Smoking marijuana can injure or destroy lung tissue. In fact, marijuana smoke contains 50–70% more of some cancer causing chemicals than does tobacco smoke.6

Reaction time for motor skills, such as driving, is reduced by 41% after smoking one joint and is reduced 63% after smoking two joints.7

There have been over 7,000 published scientific and medical studies documenting the damage that marijuana poses. Not one study has shown marijuana to be safe.7

While I don't disagree with your theory, I have a problem with ANYONE breaking the laws of this country. If pot smokers/dealers are in jail for their drug involvement, then they BROKE THE LAW, just like the 12-20 million illegal criminal aliens.

pot will NEVER be legalized in the U.S. in your lifetime..DEAL WITH IT. it sounds like you have smoked too much already, comparing destitute parents and family members who flee poverty to come here and earn a meager living for their starving families, to a bunch of morons who insist on living their lives in a drug induced stupor. immigration reform WILL come soon, it is a HUMAN rights issue and the right thing to do. as for drug laws, good luck with that dream, you're going to need it.
