Hi guys, Can anyone pls tell me that if I hold a driver's license of my home country (not USA) do i have to give my driving test again i the USA. I am asking cuz a friend of mine had a driver's license from his home country (India) n the only thing he had to do in the state of NJ was to give a written exam and not a driver's test. does this rule apply in all the states?? i am in Texas now.

In Texas you have to do both. When I surrendered my Illinois license, for a Texas license I had to take both just coming from another state. That was almost 25 years ago. Call the Texas DMV for the information.

Rules vary from state to state and also leave some discrimination to the examiner.

Your best answer is to call the Texas DMV and simply ask them.

My guess is that you will have to go the whole 9 yards (take the whole exam).
