Like Scrapple and Blue crabs. Is that really THAT strange? Where are you from and what are some of the weird regional things that are popular in your area?

Chuck, I go to Albany ALL THE TIME!!! It was my second home for 8 months when I dated a guy who went to RPI. EAT A BOMBERS BURRITO FOR ME!!!

They eat grass in California. Who is really the strange one? I think it's really just a regional thing. Some places think grits are weird.

I'm from Delaware too, so I've had scrapple and blue crabs.

I'm from Iowa and I have never heard of Scrapple or Blue Crabs. We eat mostly steak,hamburger, chicken, corn, potatoes, crap like that. Really I think anymore food is pretty similar across the USA, but still a few local traditions. The weirdest regional food I've ever had was some really hard bread in seattle. It was horrible.

I love the blue crabs in delaware. I eat them whenever i go see my aunt up there. It's not weird, just differnt from your friends usual eats. I lived in TN and there is not much strange here but fried okra and grits, but those are found through out the south. I like the grits but not the okra. I also lived in PA and there was nothing that different there. Different reigions eat different things so don't take it personally. Your friend just needs to travel more and eat local foods and she'll get the big picture.

In NY, I've never heard of those foods, but I wouldn't be surprised about it. I was shocked when I walked into a grocery store in the Adirondacks, and asked for some cheese curds in the deli, and they just gave me strange looks. Don't know if they don't exist there, or maybe if they have a different name. Down in South Carolina when I visited they had boiled peanuts, something I never heard of up here before.

I'm originally Norwegian, and I have to say the two things that usually get people ot raise an eyebrow or crinkle their nose in disgust/intrigue are Lutefisk or Rakfisk.

Lutefisk is fish soaked in lye, then watered out and steamed. It gives the fish a slightly gelatinous consistency and is eaten with bacon and mustard powder among other things.

Rakfisk is fish that is partially rotted. It gives it a very strong flavor and smell and is eaten with sour cream and spring onions. Very tasty.

I currently live in France where we of course eat snails, frog legs, calf brains, tripe, sweetbreads, liver, kidneys and the list goes on...

I live in Ohio.. lik we eat Buckeyes obviously.. hmm.. I don't really know if we eat that many things different. We eat alot less seafood like maybe only eat seafood (including fish sticks) maybe 1 or 2 times every 3 months.. I love sea food so its a problem for me, lol! We eat stuff that is deep fried too.. like the Ohio State fair has deep fried chocolate and deep fried cheese. I have a friend who puts peanut butter on his pancakes instead of maple syrup cause he hates the syrup. lol! Just depends I guess...

I'm from Albany New York , not too many weird foods here , lots of ethnic diversity. Hey I go to Dover Delaware every September for the NASCAR race, maybe I'll see you there :))

Well, I'm from Arkansas, and a lot of people here eat catfish. I've heard that most people in the Northern states would never eat catfish, because they're scavengers. Also, a lot of black people here eat chitterlings (or "chitlins"), which are the long intestines of a pig.

I'm from Indiana. The only "weird" food I can think of that is popular from the town I went to college in is fried brain sandwiches. They're pretty gross, actually, but everyone there loves them. Everything else is just typically Midwestern: lots of things deep-fried, HUGE portions of everything, lots of gravy, etc.

Pennsylvania and we put Ketchup on everything...and it must be Heinz.

We stopped at a Bob Evans the other day and a lady declared real loud..."i can't believe they don't have grits". She had a strong southern accent, so that must be a southern thing.
