I have been thinking about this for a while, and I wonder if it could be done, or if it couldn't. I don't even know if there is already a domed track somewhere in the world. It would cut down on rain shortened races, but the fumes might kill everyone. Just give me your opinions.

ive been to many concerts standing infront of the P.A. speakers, ive been in the new years crowd when the ball dropped, ive been in football stadium when the home team scorred, ive been to air shows with f-15s racing by at 500-600 mph, and nothing was even close to being as loud as an indy car going through a tunnel, 43 nascars running in a dome would be unbareable, you wouldnt be able to tell your friend you needed to go tto the bathroom, if you yelled as loud as you could you wouldnt be able to hear your own voice in your head

I think they wanted to try that at Bristol in the mid-90's, but the cost to do it would be huge and I think they said they would have problems with decibels and heat ventilation. The idea would be neat, but I also wonder since it would be domed if track conditions would change. Weathering has the biggest effect on track conditions and since it would be domed there would be no weathering process.

Cool idea but way too expensive. Even the small Bistol sized tracks are bigger than the largest domed staduims. You would have to vent the fumes and noise levels to a lower safe level.

I don't think there could be a way to have a doomed track. Imagine how big the dome would have to be when the tracks are about 2 miles long.

no cause it would be so large, how would you cover all of that? And the fumes and the noise? Unbearble. Cool, but i just don't see it happening. The only nascar thing indoors is the pit crew challange in the Charllote Bobcats Stadium.

i don't think so nascar tracks are very big and even if it was on a short track like Bristol the sound inside would be ungodly and all the smoke from the cars

Open air over the infield?
I remember a few years back that they were thinking of doing something like that around Pittsburgh, but it never went through for some reason...

No, ventilation would probably be one main issue not to mention the cost. This has been abnormal and the weather has and will always be a crapshoot.
