Wow, that is just such a difficult question because there are so many methods and types of sea fishing. For example you can fish from the beach in which case you need a fairly powerful rod and reel for casting, rod stands etc. Or you can fish from rocks, plenty of them in Cornwall using a lighter rod and float. Etc Etc. best thing to do is if you have some rods etc, even carp rods, take them with you and visit a local tackle shop, and ask the guys in there. Tell them your experience and they will suggest the best place and way to fish. My own thoughts would be a float from the rocks. Some ragworm as a good general bait, and I'm sure you could have some fun. Cigar shape sliding float is best because it's so easy to adjust the depth and they are good for casting out a bit as well. Although it's probably best to fish close in near to the rocks. Quite easy to catch Wrasse etc. Also search in Yahoo or Google. Put something like shore fishing in Cornwall and you'll get lots of websites come up with usefull info. But do visit a local shop, they are always helpful
Edit: Ps if you ever coming to the North Costa Blanca region of spain contact me and I'll take you fishing here. Used to fish on UK south coast and cornwall few years ago

I tell you what you really get some stupid answers on here...
If you have a carp rod and reel that will be fine (get some 12/15lb line for the reel)....
For mackerel - 2/3 oz weights and a few strings of mackerel feathers (hockeyes are good) you will be able to buy weights and feathers for about a fiver in any fishing tackle shop. Simply cast - let them sink and retrieve - easy....
For bass - Get a float (cheap bubble float would be fine) and some 3/0 hooks and fish sandeel beneath the float letting it drift or on a slow retrieve
For bass buy some spinner or plugs and simply tie on the end of your line and cast and retrieve....
Try and do this from piers or rocks as opposed to the beach....
worldseafishing.com/forums will have loads of info in the south west forum....
good luck

If you fancy a bit of pier/rock fishing or some close-in surf fishing then I think your carp rod will be fine. Load your reel with 12 - 15lb line. the set up should be ideal for spinning, light feather work (a shock leader is still recommended), float fishing or light bottom fishing.

Sea fishing:
Fishing conducted in that big blue thing with salt and garbage added.
River Fishing:
Fishing conducted in a flowing watery thing which sometimes has salt added, and still contains garbage.
Lake Fishing:
Fishing conducted on a big, round wet thing, sometimes with salt added, but still with odour de garbage
Cornwall:
According to Wikipedia:
"Is a county in South West England, United Kingdom, on the peninsula that lies to the west of the River Tamar and Devon."
Actually, from memory - quite a nice spot!
What should you fish for?
Steer clear of the garbage - try and catch fish!
What Tackle to use?
Football: No Tripping
Rugby: No Spear Tackles
League: Just don't forget to get rid of te ball after the fifth tackle
What kind of Rod to use?
Anyone named Rod, who knows something about fishing!
What reel to use?
Depends on the Folk band you hire. (For those of you unfamiliar to Folk Music, a reel is a musical piece in in 4/4 or 2/4 timing - see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reel_(dance) for more information)
What line to use?
If in doubt, always resort to Clint Eastwood:
"Go ahead fish: Make my day!"
Have fun fishing!!

It all depends on what kind of fish you want to catch. If you after heavywieghts you will probably want to use a thicker line.
I mostly use sarddine as bate coz you can catch almost anything with it.Don't ask me what I reeled in with it(I don't know much about fish species)
I fish with just the line so I can't tell you much about rods.
If you reel in a rough brownish fish you best leave it alone. Some of them may be poisionous.

YES. If you are sea fishing, the first thing you will need is a boat.
Get a rod with a handle - get a REEL one.
Good luck Capt. Birdseye.
