He is exalting him self and his riches and feels that everyone should have had what he was entitled too and the same privileges and this goes along with two passages of scriptures: The poor you will have among you always and it is harder for a rich man to get into heaven then to go through the eye of a needle. These two passage of scripture sum up a lot of what your friend is experiencing. He is looking down his nose at everyone and doesn't realize it is the heart of man that the Lord looks at and not his pocketbook - the Lord gives it and he can take it away. We are blessed to be a blessing.

Beggars and those with an alcohol problem are not going to be cured by giving them money but this is not the issue here, we are talking about simple charity towards someone who is in a sad place in life and we have no right to judge them, who knows that the poor soul might just buy a sandwich or a bowl of soup with the money!

It's probably not so much that he wouldn't want to help them... it's just that a lot of those "beggars" you see on the street are really con-artists.... They make themselves look homeless and then walk around with a sign asking for money and when people give it to them, they're just taking your money when they aren't really homeless at all. You have to be really careful these days.... And usually, if the person is truly homeless, there's more than likely a pretty good reason for it... Like, maybe they weren't too wise with their money and wasted it all on addictions such as drugs, alcohol, or gambling.... and if you give them money, that is most likely what they will use it for... not for helping themselves out of a bad situation.... If you truly want to help them, give them something to eat, or anything besides money. Your friend was just trying to help you. The way you just talked about your friend there actually made you seem like you think you're so much better than him. Maybe you should get down off of your "high horse" and stop being so naive....the world just isn't as simple and safe as it used to be.

I accept as true with you extra. God does no longer want you to starve or lose your place basically so which you would be able to pay tithes. You do what you could and have faith in Him. i do no longer see something incorrect with the way you reside. Your chum desires to be certain all that she has. You mentioned "She has a secure interest, a sturdy place to stay and healthful." She has been immensely blessed to have been given those issues, and that i do no longer understand the way she would manage to't see it. Nowhere interior the Bible does it say that we as Christians could have the suitable life right here on earth and settle for each little thing we want. unquestionably, extremely the choice is authentic. "carry ye each and every of the tithes into the storehouse, that there may well be meat in mine living house, and tutor me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if i'm able to't open you the living house windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall no longer be room sufficient to get carry of it." (Malachi 3:10) It does not say "worldly blessing". It basically says "blessing". advantages can are available many varieties, including sturdy well being, foodstuff to consume, a house to stay in, loving family members, little ones, a stable motor vehicle, and extra. i do no longer understand precisely the way it would be ultimate to word all of this to her, yet i wish she sees the gentle quickly. Worldly comforts and possessions won't pass to Heaven with us. God by no potential promised us a vault of gold right here on earth if we accompanied Him and tithed. Her advantages are many, and she or he desires to be certain that.

I gave money once, but the person used it for alcohol instead, so now I prefer to give them goods rather than money.
I personally agree that you shouldnt give them money, but you should help them out, with food, clothes, maybe even a shower. Your Christian friend should have done those things, even if they werent prepared to give the beggar money

If! the beggar was truly a beggar, and not a professional layabout working his patch, then your friend is not a True Christian.
There are so many proffesional beggers on the streets from Eastern Europe who I would not give a red cent too.

He maybe didn't explain himself. Giving them money helps feed their vices. Maybe that is what he meant and poorly communicated this to you. If it really bothers you and he is a friend, you should discuss it rather than hold it in and let it eat at you when it simply might be a misunderstanding, or maybe he really is a selfish hypocrite. If he is, you need a new friend!
I buy them food and bottled water.
