It has repeatedly been proven that the speed of light is constant at a rate circa 186,000 miles per second.
It is a fact, not a theory.
And if we use the width of our orbit around the sun as a base line, and measure the angle between the sun and a star when we're on one side of our orbit, and again when we are on the other side of our orbit, we can use those two angles to form a triangle. Since we know the size of the baseline, we can use trigonometry to determine the distance to the star.
Trigonometry is a fact, not a theory.
Using this method, we have found stars that are tens of thousands of light-years away from us (a light year is the distance light travels in one year).
If God made the universe 6000 years ago, we wouldn't be able to see these stars as their light would not have had enough time to reach us.
Yet we see the stars.
How do you explain this?

God created the light on it's way from the other stars.
In fact god created the entire Earth to look like it is 4.5 billion years old, complete with geographic strata, fossils and all sorts of radioactive isotopes at just the right level.
God created the universe to look like it is 15 billion years old, with all the light from all the stars created. All the nova and supernovas in place, the entire universe flying apart to make it look like it all came from one big bang.
God is rolling on the floor laughing his *** off at our puny human brains falling for this cosmic joke. God is a right bastard like that.

"The speed of light can be slowed with chilled sodium... we are unable to derive what the initial conditions of the universe were... If the universe is ever expanding we would be unable to get a good reading of distance anyway." LOL WUT? We would have faster than light travel by now if all it took was chilled sodium. Sources please. Edit 2: None of those deal with the speed of light. Edit3: Again, none of those articles are talking about the physical constant of the speed of light. Here let me explain to you what they are mean. Light moves slower through denser media because more particles get in its way. Each time the light bumps into a particle of the medium, the light gets absorbed which causes the particle to vibrate a little and then the light gets re-emitted. This process causes a time delay in the light's movement so the more particles there are (the more dense the medium), then the more the light will be slowed down. This has no baring on the physical constant of the speed of light.

Maybe God has been misunderstood or the creationist are not understanding time and space properly. Someone is
all wrong about this and it does not appear to be you.
The six thousand years could represent the birth of a specific
people and not the birth of the universe. We humans are fact, the God concept is just an unprovable theory.
Have a pleasant day.

The majority of Christians are not creationists. As a Christian, I believe that this "young earth theory" is way too far-fetched. What disturbs me is that there are Christians who tell me that if I don't believe in the "young earth theory", I'm not a Christian. How dare they judge me like that! So I completely agree with you. The book of Genesis tells us WHY God created the universe and men, not HOW He did it. I am still open to the world of science, however I believe in micro-evolution (intra-species) and not macro-evolution (ape to men)

Who says God created the universe 6,000 years ago. The first chapter of Genesis says the earth existed prior to the 6 days of creation. It says it was covered with water and wind blew across the surface of it.

It has been approximately 13.7 billion years since the big bang. The earth is approximately 4.5 billion years old. Anyone who believes in a 6000 year old earth is a complete moron. That may sound harsh but that is the way it is.

If you were a perfect being like God, then when you create the stars, you would also go and create the light traveling from them so your creations on the planet Earth could see then right then

Logic? You expect logic from a person who is too stupid to accept facts in black and white in front of their face?
I tried logic my friend. It goes WAY over their small little brains.
Young earth creationists are, as a group, some really stupid people. I am sorry but there is no other way to put it.

Although I am not a Young Earther I know the answer. G-d created everything including the light in motion toward us carrying images of distance galaxies.

I agree with what you are implying but who told you that the speed of light is constant? It varies.
