There are two churches in the atlanta area that I know of for sure that make sure you have good credit or at least a checking account before you get in. My friends sister works at one of these churches and she has locks (or dreads) and she has to wear a wig. She cant even be herself and love her own hair because of her job at "church". Can you guess what two I'm referring to?

But its church, why do you need to check my credit? Does anyone know of other churches like this?

Yes it is a good rule. Everybody knows the true religion in this country is money... That is why there is an ATM on every corner instead of church because we like to be close to the object of our worship. Every priest must have a credit score of at least 700 as dictated by the recent Federal Church Credit Act. The same act allows the church to set minumum credit score requirement for the congregation. At my church it is 650.

The credit check is a new one on me. Never heard of such a thing (not saying you're wrong, just that this is the first time I've seen it mentioned -- here, or anywhere else). I will just say that if a church wanted to check my credit as a condition for membership, they could save themselves the trouble; I'd go elsewhere. As for not allowing dreads, it sounds a lot like trying to portray an image of what church leadership thinks a Christian should look like rather than the image of Christ.

How unlike Jesus' command at Matt. 10:8, "You recieved free, give free." regarding spiritual knowledge. That would burn that clergy like a white hot iron.

The early apostles worked jobs to not be a burden on the congregations they visited. (2 Thess. 3:7-10) They wanted to set an example for others. In fact, as it says, if they don't work, neither let them eat.

I know of one preacher who when he sees the collection plate less than he wants, tells the location of ATMs from the pulpit.

The big question is why are people still in that church? Do they believe the address means something special to God? Definitely, it means they are not following either the Bible or Jesus' commands. They cannot be the religion God approves so why stay?

I've heard of one of those churches, the non-denominational one. I've heard that they require pay stubs or W2's so you can prove your income so that they can bill you for your tithes. I've also heard that the same church gave their pastor a Rolls Royce. I think this would be called "pimping your congregation."

Let me share with you what Islam expects. You are expected to give to charity, but the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) said that a smile is charity, helping your parent carry in the groceries is charity, letting a car in your line of traffic is charity. As for money, you are expected to care for your FAMILY first; then once a year, preferably during Ramadhan, you pay 2.5% of what is left in your savings to help the poor (or to some other Islamic cause). Isn't that logical?

I know a man that can make a sound like a duck, but that does not make him a duck. Just because they have the name church on a paper and above the door, does not make them a church, sounds more like a gathering place for a group of vultures.

R-U-N! Run fast!!!

Obviously, you don't need them as much as they need your money. Church is not a Country Club. Last time I checked, talking to your/our God was free... I also think that this was one of the founding principles of our country.

I repeat- Run away! The only lightening bolts that should be seen should be from your wheels on the pavement!!!

It would benefit you a great deal if you were to find a religion where money and social status are not a factor, but worshiping God in spirit and truth is a way of life.

"God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth." John 4:24

God examines the heart of people, not their credit scores.

"would not God have discovered it,
since he knows the secrets of the heart?" Psalm 44:21

Please don't tell me that the Baptist Church is the one pastored by Dr. Charles Stanley?! The only other huge Church I know of in that area is pastored by Dr. Michael Yousef, but I don't think it's bigger than Dr. Stanley's.

However, documentation of your assertion would be appreciated, since I cannot consider an accusation without proof.

I would certainly be interested to know which churches you are referring to ---- never heard of this before.

God wants everyone in His family - even people with low credit scores!

I've never heard of anything like this. I'd love to see how they back such a policy up scripturally.
