I am currently in the NAVY DEP program, scheduled to leave for basic this 26th. Whe I went to swear in to MEPS, my recruiter told me not to mention all 3 of my misdemeanor charges for theft under $300 from 1998, he said to only mention 1 of them, so I did, and got to swear in and everything.
When MEPS did my backgroud ck, they noticed thre was 1 charge that I did not mention, so my recruiter recieved a call from MEPS stating that. My recruiter had me fill out hand written statements fro all 3 charges, and then asked me to get 4 references from work, so he could fax all that in. Then a week later i had a special investigator from OPM ask me to interview me for a background ck, that MEPS sent to do on me. My MOS is YEOMAN. I am supposed to b waiting for a waiver to be granted so that I can still leqve for basic this month, and everytime i call my recruiter w/ and update...he says, I have not heard anything back yet, but I will keeo u posted. So now I am thinking that I will be denied now

The answer is NO,NO,NO,NO,NO!
Antonio, get it through your head, You lied on your application. There is a record at MEPS. (remember seeing ALL of the services there?) You are not shipping out on the 26th. You will not get into the Army.
Just how many times must this be explained to you?

The waiver does take time. In the Army National guard 2 - 3 Misdemeanors require a waiver from the state HQ. It would take about a week to complete. Ask your recruiter about the waiver process. Coming into any military branch is a big decision. Ensure that the Navy is what you want to do and
with any branch of service (Navy, Army, Airforce, Marines)ask to see it in writing or have it on your contract.

you cannot enlist into the Army while you are still in DEP for the Navy.
BUT.. you have some strikes against you.. first by lying on your paperwork. you were found out, and the Army will be less likely to offer you waivers to get in, first because you lied, and second because you failed to ship out for the Navy.
you may end up getting dropped from Navy DEP anyway.. because of your fraud. If that is the case, you will most likely have ot wait at least 6 months and possibly longer before you can try the Army.

The chances are pretty good that you will be denied. Even if the recruiter told you not to mention the crimes, you still signed at the bottom, stating that it was a true statement. That alone is grounds to deny you. If that happens your chances of the Army taking you are kind of slim, since they don't want Navy rejects. But if you go to an Army recruiter right away, and be TOTALLY honest with them, you could still get in. But you have to do that BEFORE you get orders to basic. The Army recruiter will know how to shuffle the paper work to get the situation cleared up.
But be forewarned! Almost every recruiter lies through their teeth. My recruiter was my father's former secretary, I was her first recruit, and I wanted to go in, and she still lied to me about several things. Length of my enlistment, the MOS that I wanted, the MOS that I ended up choosing (third or fourth down the list of what I liked), and even where I would go to basic training.
But there are some good ones out there, just take what they say with a grain of salt.
Good luck.

Your recruiter will ship you regardless and let Great lakes deal with it.Call the Jag office yourself ASAP tell them the story and get a yes or no.The DEP is all BS just to make you feel commited, right now you have a reserve contract, on your ship date you will go in an office and they tear that contract up in front of you and stick your active contract in front of you.At that point if they havent given you a straight answer demand to tallk to a LEGAL OFFICER before you sign. So you dont wind up baldheaded and broke wandering the streets of MI.

The one thing I would hope you would do is tell someone about this scum-sucking sack of poop recruiter. Recruiting abled bodied soldiers, sailors, and marines is hard enough without another horror story like this.
Army is out for you (sorry). And it sounds like you're outta luck with Navy too. I recommend the National Guard. The state tends to overlook those issues. Another option... go to another state and try to enlist. I don't think MEPS computers are synched.

But still the stories go on............................and on and on.
No you still can't enlist in the Army with all your criminal crap still on the books.
Do you think the recruiters don't talk to each other and that MEPS doesn't have all your stuff in the computer??
Mall job, or maybe try college, maybe they can teach you something you're not listening to anyone else.
