Due to the fact that these
Christians use the Protestant Old Testament which is lacking 7 entire books 2 (Tobias, Judith, Wisdom, Ecclesiasticus/Sirach, Baruch, I Maccabees, and II Maccabees), 3 chapters of Daniel and 6 chapters of Esther may be one of the reasons they ask catholics so many questions.

For the Sola Scriptura this is too bad .
In the 16th c., Luther removed those books from the canon that lent support to orthodox doctrine, relegating them to an appendix. Removed in this way were books that supported such things as:

prayers for the dead (Tobit 12:12; 2 Maccabees 12:39-45),

Purgatory (Wisdom 3:1-7),

intercession of dead saints (2 Maccabees 15:14),

and intercession of angels as intermediaries (Tobit 12:12-15).

The lesson, though, is this: relying on the "Bible alone" is a bad idea; we are not to rely solely on Sacred Scripture to understand Christ's message. While Scripture is "given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness" (2 Timothy 3:16-17), it is not sufficient for reproof, correction and instruction in righteousness. It is the Church that is the "pillar and ground of Truth" (1 Timothy 3:15)! Jesus did not come to write a book; He came to redeem us, and He founded a Sacramental Church through His apostles to show us the way. It is to them, to the Church Fathers, to the Sacred Deposit of Faith, to the living Church that is guided by the Holy Spirit, and to Scripture that we must prayerfully look.

By the way it has proved to be true in the past. Historically, the people existed when it said they did. Places were where it said they were. This dispite the detracters mouthing off how things could not be, were proved liars.

In science, the Bible is proved true. 4,000 years ago, while most thought the world was flat and carried by turtles, columns, or on the shoulders of a man, The Bible in Isaiah 40:22 and Job 26:7 said the earth was round and hung upon nothing.

In prophecy, all have come true. As one example, Jesus, we know, died in 33CE. He gave a prophecy about the Jerusalem temple. Not a stone would be left upon a stone. He gave his people notice of how and when to escape. 40 some years later, the Roman legions showed up killing many. For some unexplained reason, they withdrew. Those who listened to Jesus got out of town as fast as they could. Those who took their time packing were either killed by robbers on the way or by the Romans when they came back and destroyed the temple.

It is a guide for the best life. Who better than the One who made us to tell the best way to operate human life? Following the Bible's advice brings a happy family life, a better personal life, freedom from many of today's troubles, and keeps us free from some desease.

With all this going for it, we can rely on it for truth in the future as well as present.

We don't.

In fact, the number of impossible claims and plainly magical events described in the Bible strongly suggest that it is anything but true (worldwide flood, sun stopping in the sky, talking animals, etc...)

The only basis that anyone has ever had for believing the Bible is the fact that the Bible claims to be true. That's it. Biblical claims have not been borne out by the scientific evidence.

No, the bible is not "true", nor was it ever intended to be. It is a collection of allegorical books intended to guide the spiritual lives of its readers. Around the late 1800's, however, in the US, so many family farmers were worried that children in school were going to learn "truths" that would steal them away from the farm that "fundamentalism" was born, and people started teaching that the bible was "literally true".

It isn't hard to see how much mess that has caused!

no one knows, for an ABSOLUTE FACT, that the bible is true. It was written by human beings and is full of myths, fictitious events and superstitious ideas meant to placate and frighten the people reading it.

No one can tell whether the bible is true or not. It's an opinion of the believer (or non-believer). It all depends on your religion. No one living right now has any logical proof that it was truly written on facts...Except for their own beliefs.

Yes it is true. Science does not dispute the accuracy of the Bible. The writings that prophecy about Jesus (Old Testament) statistically cannot be disputed. If you do the math and look at the factual science, and have FAITH you cannot doubt the truth of the Bible.

It was made up.

Deuteronomy is a fake, written in the eighth century BC. In order for it to be any thing other than a fake, it would have to be much older.

Esther is a fake.

Most of the contents of the Gospels are fake.
