God is described in the Bible as INFINITE. (no defined limits to size or nature). We are FINITE, that is there is a definite limit to our size, the space we occupy and our nature.
If God is, as the Bible says, INFINITE, then there cannot be TWO infinities - if there are two infinities, then they are NOT REALLY infinite but finite.
So according to the Bible there can only be ONE GOD. But the Bible also defines clearly THREE PERSONS - if these are all GOD, then they have to be the same being (because there can only be ONE infinity).
In John 1:1 "In the beginning was the Word... and the Word was with God and the word WAS GOD" Later on in the chapter, John defines the Word as Jesus. This is a clear proof for the Trinity from the Bible.
The Baltimore Catechism describes it this way: "NATURE is WHAT we are, PERSON is WHO we are"
Some use a clover as a visual - it's three leaves are an integral part of it yet it is one clover.
"The Divine Persons do not SHARE one divinity among themselves but each of them is God, whole and entire"
The Trinity is logical according to what we know about Jesus and the Father being two DISTINCT persons but also clearly identified as God who is INFINITE and by definition cannot be TWO. It surpasses our human understanding however. But that of course, doesn't mean it is not true. Just as most folks do not understand Calculus but that doesn't mean Calculus does not exist or is erroneous.

A real clear understandable explanation of the trinity has been the weakpoint of the Christian church.
At one time, people would take whatever their priest said as being unquestionable. If he said it, it must be that way. With this belief, the church was able to survive for centuries. Now people demand understandable explanations.
" One God in three persons " doesn't go any more. Why does the church say "persons" when the proper plural of person is people ? The preamble does not say, " We, the persons of the UNited States ". Linclon did not say, " Of the persons, by the persons, for the persons ".
Members will continue to leave the Christian church, in favor of simplier beliefs unless something is done about the trinity - - - - soon.

I prefer the egg analogy myself. That has already been answered I see. If youre friend is truly interested he will follow your lead. Give him one of these fond answers. Pray that he sees the light. Prayer is more powerful than you explaining the Trinity or anything else to him. Tell him to ask Jesus into his heart and start reading the Bible. Have him start off in John. If he truly is seeking God God will show him His light. Remember we must want and seek God with all our might. We will find Him. Remember Hes not lost we are.

According to the Athanasian Creed:
"The Father is God, the Son is God, and the Holy Ghost is God, and yet there are not three Gods but one God."
In this Holy Trinity: "The three Persons are CO-EQUAL and CO-ETERNAL: all alike are UNCREATED and
OMNIPOTENT." (The Catholic Encyclopedia)
Thus the Trinity is considered to be: (One God in three Persons."
There is only one verse in the whole of Holy Scripture called the Bible which unequivocally supports this Christian
dogma, and that is:
"For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost; and these three are one. "
The first Epistle of John 5:7 Dr C.I, Scofield, D.D. backed by eight other D.D.'s in a footnote to this verse opine:
"IT IS GENERALLY AGREED THAT THIS VERSE HAS NO MANUSCRIPT AUTHORITY AND HAS BEEN
INSERTED."
The fundamentalist Christians still retain this fabrication whereas, in all the modern translations including the Revised
Standard Version (RSV) this pious fraud has been unceremoniously expunged, thus confirming this Qur'anic refutation:
"They do blaspheme who say: God is one of three In a Trinity: for there is no God except one God. If they desist not
from their word (of blasphemy), verily a grievous penalty will befall the blasphemers among them." Holy Qur'an 5:76.
Thank God! The Christians are willy-nilly discovering pagan forgeries in their "word of God", but they are still
dragging their feet.

Use your logic: God is one and only. He cannot be three. Jesus was his chosen human being for transmiting his message to humanity and Gabriel (the Holy Ghost as you say) was the means of communication. So one worships God using the guidelines provided by his prophets. its as simple as that. Trinity is quite illogical.

Ask the Pope or any priest.
Even they cannot explain it properly.
That's why they call it a 'mystery'
When in fact is a load of old cobblers.
There is ONLY Almighty God and his son, Jesus.
And the Holy Spirit is simply god's POWER.

There are many illustrations,I will present one for now and could e-mail more to you if you wish.
God is truine and created man in his image also triune.
Man is: Soul, Spirit, Body three manifestations of one being. Each member of the whole is dependent on the others for the complete nature to exist.

Dear Friend,
The trinity is not a biblical teaching
Christ was the son of the one true God. Many people will tell you that they exist as a trinity, but this is simply not true, consider the following scripture.
John 14:28"You heard me say, 'I am going away and I am coming back to you.' If you loved me, you would be glad that I am going to the Father, for the Father is greater than I.
Also
Ecclesiastes 9:5 For the living know that they will die,
but the dead know nothing;
they have no further reward,
and even the memory of them is forgotten.
If the Trinity doctrine was true, then who resurrected Jesus when he was dead? and why did Jesus say the father is 'Greater that I'
And concerning the kingdom,
Matthew 24:36
[ The Day and Hour Unknown ] "No one knows about that day or hour, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father.
If Jesus was God then why did he not know.
And again, in the book of Mark
The Greatest Commandment
Mark 12:28One of the teachers of the law came and heard them debating. Noticing that Jesus had given them a good answer, he asked him, "Of all the commandments, which is the most important?"
29"The most important one," answered Jesus, "is this: 'Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is one.[e] 30Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.'[f] 31The second is this: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.'[g]There is no commandment greater than these."
32"Well said, teacher," the man replied. "You are right in saying that God is one and there is no other but him. 33To love him with all your heart, with all your understanding and with all your strength, and to love your neighbor as yourself is more important than all burnt offerings and sacrifices."
34When Jesus saw that he had answered wisely, he said to him, "You are not far from the kingdom of God." And from then on no one dared ask him any more questions.
The lord is ONE/ you are right in saying he is ONE.
1 Corinthians:15:25For he must reign until he has put all his enemies under his feet. 26The last enemy to be destroyed is death. 27For he "has put everything under his feet."[c] Now when it says that "everything" has been put under him, it is clear that this does not include God himself, who put everything under Christ. 28When he has done this, then the Son himself will be made subject to him who put everything under him, so that God may be all in all.
This ends the confusion, ' Now when it says that "everything" has been put under him, it is clear that this does not include God himself, who put everything under Christ. 28When he has done this, then the Son himself will be made subject to him who put everything under him, so that God may be all in all.'
If Jesus was God, how could he be made subject to himself?
I urge you to investigate these things for yourself, many Christians will tell you that it is a mystery that we are not meant to understand, Not so! God wants us to understand everything clearly so that we can come to him with accurate knowledge that breeds love.
The bible also says:
Ephesians 3:9and to make plain to everyone the administration of this mystery, which for ages past was kept hidden in God, who created all things. 10His intent was that now, through the church, the manifold wisdom of God should be made known to the rulers and authorities in the heavenly realms
The mystery is why do Christians believe man made doctrine instead of Gods Truth.
God Bless

You are one individual. You have a physical body, a soul and mind. All three make up you.
Scriptures show us God the Father, as Creator. God the Son, as Redeemer, and God the Holy Spirit, as Sanctifier. Not three gods, but one God in three persons. "Persons" not meant "individuals" but personal self-distinctions within the divine reality.
