In terms of generating capacity what is the biggest power station in the world? (of any type be it coal, nuclear, thermal or other). Anyone know? Couldn't find it anywhere...got any links to prove it?

China's Three Gorges Dam is the world biggest hydro-electric power station by total capacity. Its total capacity is 22,500MW. It will have 32 generators in total, each with a capacity of 700MW.

Nanticoke Generating Station in Canada is the largest coal fired plant in North America at 4096 MW. Eight units at 512 MW each. It is ranked in the top ten in the world.

It is Sayano-Shushenskaya Hydropower Plant - 6,400MW, located on the Yenisei River in Sayanogorsk, Khakassia, has installed capacity of 6,400MW making it the biggest power station in Russia and one of the 10 biggest hydroelectric power plants in the world and Krasnoyarsk Hydroelectric Power Station - 6,000MW located on the Yenisei River in Divnogorsk is Russia s second biggest power station.

I know about the US, Six of the ten biggest power stations in the US are fossil-fuelled, while the other four, including the two biggest Grand Coulee and Palo Verde, are hydro -and nuclear-powered.
