Hey People Here's some "news" for you...GOD Doesn't change his mind! Everything in the "Old Testament" is just as valid TODAY as it was then. He did NOT have a SON that paid for all YOUR sins...that would be like saying you could buy your salvation at Walmart and take it home and put it in the closet for when you need it at judgment time. Jesus simply gave the most direct instructions on how to remain faithful and guarantee your salvation...He didn't just offer it for free like handouts at the grocery store. Remember Jesus was Jewish and a Rabbi! Do you all really think He would just tear up the Torah and mark it as void?
As far as modern Apostates are concerned they will be paid their due on the Last Day. They are a sorry lot who are the dominate majority right now on earth. Indeed it has become nearly impossible to trust completely in God in this modern world.
Now this might sound like God is cruel or vindictive but it is simply a requirement for the Universe to progress to its next perfect stage. The chaff and the wheat must be separated for things to progress. WE are the "neutral third party" in a heavenly dispute which must be settled before things can move forward.

There are many people who are willing to identify with Jesus. Who doesn’t want eternal life and blessing? However, Jesus warns us to count the cost of discipleship (Luke 9:23-26, 14:25-33). True believers have counted those costs, whereas apostates have not. Apostates are people who, when they leave the faith, give evidence they were never saved in the first place (1 John 2:19). Apostasy is not a loss of salvation, but rather a demonstration that salvation was never truly possessed.

So there they are in the desert, their lives dependent upon each other, and someone decides to abandon their faith and their principles.
What would YOU have done? Moses had a hard enough time keeping the faithful from turning back to Egypt, can you imagine how difficult it would have been if apostates were allowed to cause confusion in the ranks?

That verse is taken from a period when God was setting apart for Himself a people from whom salvation would come to the rest of the world. While God does not change, how He deals with mankind changes as his plan for salvation unfolds over the centuries. Christians are no longer called to stone anyone, but to pray for them and to come alongside them and seek restoration.
James 5:19 My brothers, if anyone among you wanders from the truth and someone brings him back, 20 let him know that whoever brings back a sinner from his wandering will save his soul from death and will cover a multitude of sins.

Context ! Man ! Context!! You forgot the Context man!
Listen!
Christ has already fulfilled all the requirements of the laws of the Old Testament, he has paid the price for all that, you must have missed that part.
You must take into consideration the WHOLE Counsel of God's word, not just one passage taken out of Context form the Old Testament.

Kill the unbeliever. Then everyone will believe. And that will priove god exists.
Of course, it will also prove he is an evil, insecure megalomaniac. But hey, you can't have everything can you.
