Not without her permission -- HIPPA forbids any doctor or any medical professional whatsoever disclosing any information about you without your express consent.

However, if you have SIGNED documents while in the hospital ALLOWING your husband access to your medical information, then the doctors have the right to tell him.

You need to immediately tell all doctors involved in the diagnosis that you do NOT want the information disclosed.

That is YOUR right.

I don't know the legalities on this one, but my intuition would be that the woman is entitled to decide whether or not her husband or anyone else is told, but that this conclusion might change in the event that she became unable to participate in making the decisions relating to her own treatment and the hospital needed to bring her next-of-kin into the discussion regardless of her previously-expressed wishes.

well, legally, I just don't know. Now emotionally I would say she needs the support of her husband but then I don't know his emotional state either and then we need more info like are they living together etc., cause if they are not living together then she wouldn't have to tell him anything.

If she insists, the doctors are legally required to keep her medical condition confidential.

However it would be a lowdown dirty trick to pull on her husband.
