I was fishing at Oceanview Pier near VA Beach this weekend with my boyfriend and we caught this crazy fish. I don't know what it is and no one around us did either. He tried to get the hook out of it and this thing was biting down on the pliers and sounded like had hed some monstrous teeth or something. If you know what it is please help!

It looks like an Oyster Toadfish. You catch them also on Long Island by the bulkhead of local parks.

i think i know what you are talking about i caught something similar to that in florida, it had teeth that you couldnt see but when you put pliers in its mouth to get the hook it was almost like beaver teeth coming out of nowhere. i was told it was a toad fish or something like that. the one i caught was about 8 inches long

That looks like you hooked you a baby monkfish! Your boyfriend is lucky he got to keep all his fingers!

Did you throw it back? They are extremely good eating!
