Christians believe that the Bible is the inspired word of God, so we want to learn all that we can about Him and what is to come. We believe that the Bible tells us how we should live and answers the questions of life.

Not all Christians think so.Catholics for example(a popular kind of Christians around the world outside the US) don't do it,they use to read some passages of the bible at church, but not the bible itself,i think those collections are called in English missals. They think reading the bible itself is good but don't do it.

Dunno if you should put that on your work,if not, well, just forget about it.

Bible itself is important because it was inspired by God,and so every word wrote down on that book has the weight of having being said by God in someway at sometime.

See ya!

First, they are following the command of the Scriptures and the instruction of Paul to Timothy:"Study to shew thyself approved, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth". You cannot know anything unless you know it historically, what were the conditions at the time, what happend, who did what, when and where. If you are studying for an RE degree of some sort, you had better study because there are many Christians who are very well versed in Scripture and they will promptly ask you questions of basic information, you must be prepared to answer. (from a person with 7 years of Theological training, 3 degrees, 75 years old and still studying. Better get busy.---

I Think it makes us feel closer to God to read his word. Also the Bible is a great life guide, a wonderful text book and some of the stories are much more interesting than any work of fiction I have ever read. I learn something new each time I read it. No only about religion and God, but about myself and the world.

God must be FIRST In your life. Then your family and then your calling. By reading your Bible and through prayer Is how you communicate with God and know His will & standards. Would you try to make a cake without a recipe,Instructions or better yet without an oven or electricity ?? You can't perform any of these things without all the right Ingredients.

More correct:

Christians believe that God speaks to us in the Bible, and by reading it we will learn how to get the **right** relationship with Him. Everyone has a relationship with God--it's only a matter of whether that relationship is friendship or estrangement.

That, and the Bible is just plain interesting and fun to read.

Christians and the bible

Christians want to be Christ like, so they need to feel close to God and his commandments. This helps them put the armor of God on, and be able to keep them faithful and keep insight of what they are doing is right. Also to refute bad doctrine. I think reading the bible and and praying is an intimate experience of each individual. The bible can be interrupted in many ways, it just depends on the beholder Of the eye, and what they see and think.

It's a good start.

Scripture tells us a lot about the faith and how it developed over time. We can better understand how people thousands of years ago understood God.

Reading Scripture gives us time to reflect on our faith. That is what you pointed out there to some degree. But we also are able to reflect on what a particular story means to us.

Scripture is also the best source we have to understand Jesus.

I'm sure you'll get lots of good answers.

Christians believe that God can only really be known as he reveals himself - and that he has chosen to do that through the book we call the Bible. As a record of God's dealings with individuals and nations and a revelation of his character and will for us, it is an indispensable guide to knowing him and to right conduct in this world.
