I wouldn't ask but it's my daughter's (first child absolute doll) favorite and I'd hate to think I was exposing her to a drug culture at such a young age. I feel terrible and silly for not figuring this out. The other mothers at daycare seem so much more on top of these things than me.

Thanks,

MaryB'sMom

Snow or White could both be taken out of context as a drug reference, but I don't believe they were intended as such when making the movie "Snow White". The only way a child would recognize either as drug terms would be if he or she was exposed to the wrong circle of people who use such terms in an inappropriate manner. As for "HiHos", that's a real stretch. While it could mean high streetwalkers, I seriously doubt many people would make the association with the song in the movie, not even those who speak like that.

That other mother sounds like a book burner too! Its a story and the Disney version is all family orientated! Walt Disney movies are for families, more so the older ones when Walt himself was alive and making them. In his movies they never mentioned why there was no mother or why they were orphans, it was too sad so it was just not mentioned. Todays cartoons explains it all and that is too much information and will stress a kid more than anything! The classic disney movies are the best way to go, back then everything was censored and controlled much better than the violence, language and nudity or any situation on todays movies! Let her love her doll and be a kid! She probably doesn't have a clue what the other stuff even means unless that lady is putting it in her head or her own kid is doing it for her. Don't take the doll remove her from people like the other mom & her kid!

Drugs and prostitutions were around back in the '30s and things weren't as "wonderful" as some may believe. They had hardships just like we do today. They just weren't all over the news like it is today.

I don't think Snow White has anything to do with drugs or prostitution but I know some original classic children's stories were pretty grim. Of course, some have been modified over the years. I wouldn't worry so much about what the other mother said.

Ok, this is my two cents. I watched that movie what must of been a hundred times as a child. I now as an adult do not feel inclined to use drugs. Do you? I am sure you watched the movie as a child.

I know many movies I watched as a child that I watch with my kids now. Some of them are unbearable, like Sleeping Beauty, the witch in there is so evil, but my preschoolers love the movie. They see and feel things differently than we do. I say let kids be kids. Your daughter will grow up to be a lovely lady because you care about her.

Yet some movies are "Dinesyfied" but as for snow white, I remember seeing it when I was a kid and I never thought that. I think the other mother (teacher) at that daycare had done one too many white lines in her life. She sounds scary, stay way from here, she might have some underlining issues. Good Luck.

How in the world would your child EVER make those assumptions?
Do you REALLY think that is exposing her to drug culture? Billboards on the STREET expose her to more drug culture than that! gheez.
Does your child refer to cocaine as "snow white"? No. I doubt it. Then why would she EVER assume that on her own?
And, by the way, drug users don't use those cute little names that your supposed "on top of these things" mothers say.
How hokey! Drug users don't come up with cute code words to talk about their drugs. They just go buy a gram of "coke" and use it.

First off Snow White was made in the 30's. Streetwalkers and cocaine weren't too common back than. Second it as a child's movie. People tend to make a big deal out of nothing. I am sure that the fairy tale was made long before drugs.

Everyone always wants to make something out of nothing...

If you really WANT to make an analogy about something, you can do it...Should women not name their daughters Crystal because they would possibly be exposing their daughters to the drug world of Crystal Meth?

Tell that woman to take a hike..
I wonder if she would have an issue with Peter Pan because tinkerbell was in it..{Slang term for homosexuals?}

no, it has nothing to do with drug culture. the movie is not there for you to 'figure out if its about drugs'.
it is a much loved kids disney movie and if it had any relation to drugs it would be pulled off the shelves immediately.
i think you need to stop being so gullible and have a bit of common sense when talking about these things.
