I think society is getting influenced more by media/movies than the vice versa.The media can easily influence society say by projecting foreign culture as happier etc.However, the society's influence on the media will start afterwards only when the society reflects the effects of such a projection.I don't think we can save ourselves from this trend, as till now ,the trend has shown itself to be progressive.

simply turn off the t.v set is not the solution and i doesn't agree with my another friend that media is the mirror of the society reason is very clear because media have power to zoom on those scene of the society who gives them business although those issues have no any concern with a large society.Brother media is not showing our culture but creating his culture and his culture is right or wrong that thing media just see with the eyes of business or bloody TRP.
we can save ourselves from this trend and one way is that learn to the society to ask question at the wrong behaviour of media and i think dear you have started yours job from the side of society by asking this question.

Society is influenced by media.

I agree that the media plays a big role in influencing the way people think of the world they live in. Movies have the same effect. Drop watching movies.

What is the purpose of movies nowadays? Earlier, movies and plays used to pass a message of valour and virtues to the public. They were about ancient kings and tales of Panchatantra.

In most movies nowadays, it is the same story. The hero and heroine meet accidentally, fall in love gradually, suddenly a villain comes in the way, kidnaps the heroine and tortures her. Then, the hero kills him in a gruesome manner. What message does it send across? Is it a positive one? No.

Suspense movies are accompanied by 'scenes'. (you know what I mean) And it is not just Bollywood.

The only way to save ourselves is to drop them. Simple. Stop subscribing to adult magazines. The only media you should have should be news channels and the newspaper. Read good books. What you want in a movie, you can get in a book minus the bad points. How about Hardy Boys (modern) and Sherlock Holmes (Classic) for adventure/suspense? Ruskin Bond and RK Narayan's stories keep my dad glued to them even today.

The steps are simple to state but tough to take. Stick to good books most of the time.

The media brainwashes most with their far left slant. Sex and violence sells. Look at society. If you want to believe a movie...watch TEAM AMERICA WORLD POLICE. (UNcensored and Unrated) The movie makes fun of how people on the left think. The movie has a lot of truth in it and it is hallarious!
