They do not. It is a different relationship. There seems to be a more special bond between opposite sex parent/child relationships. For example, there is usually a more special thing between mom and son and dad and daughter. Not sure why. I do know that it has nothing to do with love (unless the family is kinda screwed).

I don't think it's true in all cases nowadays, but it was caused by your ancestors past method of thought about children. It wasn't until the 20th century that women were looked at close to the same as males (close to, because we still aren't) so having a son was more worth wild to a mother then a daughter and also you could be more proud of a son. I don't agree with that thinking, but I think that unconsciously some mothers still think that way.
My mom certain is more attached to me than my older brother, since I spend so much time with her. Also I'm sure she would miss me more if I was away vs. my brother. I know she loves us both, but still I'm like her best friend.

Being a mother (1 of each) I know I love them both the same regardless of their sex. But this isn't always the case. I know of a family with just one girl and the rest of the family are boys and the girl cant do any wrong and the mother has actually said she likes the girl more coz "shes my only daughter" which I think is crap. My children are so different and yes there are times when I don't like the way one or the other is behaving but its not because what gender they are its because they are individuals and I love them for that.
Everyone is different that's what makes the world more fun!!!

as a mother of 2 boys and 2 girls..it is hard to understand the feelings..of course i try not to show them as it just wouldn't be fair on any of them..all i know is what my mother told me
A son is a son untill he finds a wife
A daughter is a daughter for the rest of your life .
so perhaps you take all the loveing you can from a son because you know that one day you will loose out to a wife ;-(

You have put no reasons why you think this...
I have 3 daughters and 3 sons and love them equally and all unconditionally...
I must admit that although I love them equally, each of them is special in their own way....as they are 6 different people...
Sometimes it looks as if I love one more than the others as some are more independant than the others and one suffers from ill health (not serious) than the others. I might be seen to pay more attention to one more than others but I do not love one more than the others...
It might be the same in the situation you are talking about...appearances can be deceptive....

This I can tell you is not true.
I have 1 son and 2 daughters and I love them all I don't treat any of them any differently then the others.
I may not like the choices they make and I don't always like them or I should say their attitudes but I love them all equally.
If you feel your mother treats your brother better then you, then you need to talk to your parents and try to open the lines of communication and get the treatment you think you deserve.

ok, i know a lot of people here are saying that they love their daughters more, or they love all their children equally, but actually, in my experience, my mum does love my brothers more. I'm the 2nd daughter, out of 2 daughters and 2 sons, and she's so much more lenient to the boys than she is to me and my sister...i'm sure she doesn't try to be, but it always ends up that she is...

It's biological but it's the daughters who respond better to crisis if we are going to stereotype. Boys marry and push away while the daughter stays close for life. You Think?
