Well You might try using a hair dressing, like Alberto VO5 or Brylcreem, or even Black hair care products like Dax Pomade or Royal Crown.
This will of course give your hair a slick wet look, and that does not look right on everyone, but for some people it does look good, depends on how much you use.
But for the Lice? it doesn't take much, the oil Clogs up the Lice's ability to breath and keeps their eggs from being able to hold on to the hair.
In the ancient Middle east during Biblical times the Bible often speaks of "annointing the head with Oil"
This was done to keep the hair moist and lubricated in a harsh dry environment as well as making the hair smooth and glossy, and perhaps the greatist reason to keep the lice and other parasites from infesting the hair.

Remember that lice like to live in clean hair...don' t leave your hair dirty... but they like to breed in clean hair. Lice normally get spread in school and not in the working place, the only way to avoid lice is not to mix with people who have them.

well it depends on who you are because i know African Americans can get if there hair is always dry an doesn't have any type of oil in the hair an basically doesn't take care of it. but with Caucasians (sorry it that sounds offensive), if there hair is always greasy then most likely they will develop lice. so just keep washing and conditioning your hair about once a week and you will be fine...

lice like clean hair (so well done whoever said 'wash your hair every day') when you wash your hair, comb it through thoroughly with a narrow comb - this will comb out anything that's jumped on. keeping away from kids is generally a good idea, don't use other people's hair stuff (brushes, hair ties etc), and if you do get them you can get solutions that you can soak in your hair which should kill most- then you can comb them out with a nit comb.

Wash you hair often and don't borrow/use other people's hats, caps, scarfes, and combs, unless you are 100% sure they don't have lice.
