When I drive for distances greater than an hour, I tend to get a nasty pain in my right buttock. This has happened now with my past 3 cars, and have no idea how to alleviate it. If I move the seats or shift around in the seat, it's virtually no help. So does anyone have a suggestion on how to alleviate it? Is there some sort of pillow I should buy? Something I should do differently when I sit? Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

The bulk of my travel is 3 hour trips back and forth to see family in another state. I will get out and move around to no avail. It almost feels as t though there is something poking my butt, like when you sleep on a lumpy mattress and there's springs poking you everywhere!

All I can suggest is pillows, like you thought...that sounds reasonable. Or take a break like another poster suggested. But other than that if moving around doesn't help it sounds like there isn't much you can do. Very weird...maybe you'll have to see a doctor in case you're sitting wrong!

I find that soft pillows help. You might want to try one of those donut pillows for folks with hemerroids. It's round and has a big hole in the middle. That would take pressure off the sciatic nerve, which is probably the cause of your buttock pain.

Hey!!! You've got company!!! Same thing happens to me and the only thing I've been able to do for relief is stop and get out of the car, walk around. That is easier said than done for me but I have to force myself to do it or suffer the consequences. Tried a stretch that gives me some relief but it doesn't prevent it from occurring.

No need for any special pillows. When you feel the pain coming, stop the car and walk around for a bit. Try it!
