why we use 'ladies' first when we addres the audience. eg. ladies & gentleman.

It sounds better? Gentleman an Ladies doesn't roll right. Mr. & Mrs. sounds better than Mrs. and Mr. Just a guess, what do you think?

ladies are always first. hehe just kidding. It is just how it sounds, there are 2 syllables in ladies and 3 in gentlemen. However when you speak on men and women men are first because there is only one syllable in men and 2 in women.

I guess so anyway...

It's societal; we put "women and children first" because they are the weaker individuals in our society, physically speaking. When we codify something like this that's ultimately necessary for survival, we force everyone to obey it for the good of all.

At least, that's my grand theory du jour; make of it what you will ;-)

I guess it's from when people had to abandon ship they always said women and children first. I've always heard ladies first.
