I've been told that if the father of the child doesnt attend the registration then he doesnt have his name on the birth certificate and this goes down as 'unnamed' is this true?
Also if he isnt there then can i give my baby the dads surname without his consent? im in the uk xxx

Ive got a really bad surname and i dont want my child to get picked on like i did for the name, its a hard life for kids and i dont want to make it worse xxxx

Yes, you are correct in the assumption that if the father is not present at the registration of the birth, then his name will not be on the birth certificate. II think it is actually left blank, rather than marked un-named . It is your choice what name the child takes and I'm pretty sure you can take his name. Why not give your local Registry Office a call and confirm this for your own peace of mind.

If dad isn't going to be involed, why do you want to give the baby his name? Give your baby your last name don't give dad ammunition to use against you later, when he feels like being a father!

It the law to give the babies father's name, you don't have to give the baby his sir name, you can give baby your last name if you want. But if you don't want the father to have rights, you have to get his permission, & put it in writting that he give up all claims to the baby.
