I am the type of girl who has never had a boyfriend, and am completely inexperienced at flirting with boys, even though I am 19!! I avoid all eye contact, and limit my conversations to yes or no answers. Normally, I am a funny and witty person, but whenever I talk to guys I think are attractive or cute, I freeze up. Recently, I started liking one of my good friends, and was surprised to find that he was hitting on me one night. I know that he was trying to make a move on me, but everything he tried, I deflected it. It is not because I was trying to play hard to get. I just don’t know what to do when I am in that type of situation. I know that I should have been excited that he liked me, but instead I was a freaked out. Now I do not know what to do when I am around him. Any suggestions? I want to start something with him, but am so terrified that it will ruin our friendship. What would you do to show that you are still interested, but still play it safe in case he isn’t any more?

Talk to him regularly like any friend. Laugh and joke with him like any friend.

That's what you do to play it safe.

If you want something with him:
Although he probably got the idea that you rejected him, he'll find that you still want to be his friend (which you do). When things are back to normal, make a move on him and tell him directly that you want to start something with him. He'll probably bring up that he thought you disliked him, and that's when you tell him you just didn't know what to do. Just like you did in your question.

Hope this is the best advice!

i think it might be i don't know. I am in Year 10 at a grammar school and whilst it may help not being in a mixed ability group, I don't really know, there are still people who are really thick and just muck about and distract you, well there are at my school anyway. And in Year 7 I came to this school with virtually no friends and ALL of my friends went to a different school in town which I would have gone to if I hadn't got into the grammar school and recently they have been telling me to move to their school when I told them about the annoying people at my school and the fact that I can't take certain GCSE's like Dance and they can but I'm sure that if I went to they're school there would be good points and bad points too. I think part of it is that the grass always looks greener on the other side if you get what I'm saying. But I have made lots of new friends at my school and I am relatively happy there, you obviously aren't so it's quite hard to compare it but I think assess the situation, think about it properly and sum up the pros and cons of it all and then just do what you think is best for you. Hope this helped a bit

I kind of have the same problem. I have never had a bf either and i'm 16. 3 weeks ago i found out my friend likes me and when we all went to the movies he put his hand on my knee, so i took his hand and from then on i was a bit freaked out too. Like what do i do next? Everything turned out fine. Because we where such good friends first, im more comfortable with him. Just let him do what ever, as long as you're comfortable with it. Tell him that he's your first and you're still a bit nervous. I told my bf and he's totally understanding with taking things slow until i'm completely comfortable. My friend helped me a lot too - i called her my force - lol. Ask a friend to help you a bit. Remember, what ever you do wrong, you'll laugh about it later when you're older with another guy.
