Why is it in this computer age where resources are abundant, that so many people do not have even the most basic math and spelling skills ? Even with spell check available to users, the amount of spelling errors is atrocious. Are people just lazy these days ?

I notice you put a space before both question marks you used. This is correct grammar... nowhere. You answered your own question while posing it.

So be quiet.

People have never had 'basic' math and spelling skills, and spell check and calculators provide a crutch.

Besides, this isn't a resume. Put the Lynne Truss down and concentrate on content.

Being a few years out of high school, with family still in high school, spelling isn't getting any better with the next decades graduates. With all the text messaging, i doubt any of them remember that 'ur' is supposed to be 'you're'

"Errors" is countable. You should say the "number of spelling errors", not the "amount".
