I looked at the web site for the Creation Museum, and this question occurred to me. So I looked at quite a few other Christian sites, and I get the feeling "Elmer Gantry" was a true story: Christians really seem to be awfully slick at making money, for people who traditionally bad-mouth profit as a motive.
What do you think? Does it all go to support the missions?

If it seemed I was implying that all Christians are money-mad, that was not my intention. But you have basically all admitted that some (so-called) Christians are definitely having it on with Mammon.

no. I've been on the inside with the preacher group.
The money I saw in transaction went to a 14 year old's brand new mustang at the time and a big screen TV, not to mention paying off the preacher's house and the church. I dated the 14 year old for 3 years. I saw it all.
they also rented out property around the church for commercial business. that seems a little much to me. especially when its tax free.
because of what I saw, I am no longer attending any church, and have declared myself agnostic....
oh and before that I was at another church for a few years until the preacher got up one day and made a sermon about how upset he was that people we're not giving enough $$$. I left the next day, never to come back

While there are many "Elmer Gantry" types out there please don't disparage us all . I belong to a church that Spends over 86% of the money collected to helping the poor feeding the hungry and housing the homeless. ( you will find that those are considered very Biblical values. The accounts are checked several times a year by both internal and external accountants to assure where and how the funds are spent.

Not all Christians rip people off, most arent at all interested in bussiness, myself included.
That is a steryotypical as saying all athiest hate the world or all Hindus drive taxis
Quit the sterytypes and look at the individual
Some Christian lie and steal
Most (99%) love thier God, thier savior, and those around them, and want to make the world a more Godly place.

No, not all money goes to the support of missions, I know some of the money I donate goes towards tea and biscuits for the members and the ministries salaries as the work full time for the church and have to support there familiy. With the bigger chuches though, some members do drive fancy cars and live in mansions. To be honest I dont like it, but having said that some people are gifted through there connection with God for instance in a healing ministry, and there are not alot of people who have that gift and "should" thus be protected in the fancy car with airbags etc etc, some people who work in those misistries also have people praying for them 24 hours a day, taking shifts etc, just to protect them. Having said that I believe any person who has given there life to Christ can heal through prayer as God works through us, the "person" cannot heal, only God can. As a Christian I cannot judge or speak badley of another person, at the end of the day it is God who judges them, not me.
I beleive if your faith is pure and the closer ones relationship, (not religion) with God gets better, he will take away everything that is not required of ones duties here on earth. (Prayer of Fire) Takes away everything that causes one to sin, in order to be prepared as the "Bride of Christ". This means giving selflisley and do things unconditionally without expecticting anything in return.
Alot of Christians are also guilty of performance orientation, trying to make there Ministry the biggest or fanciest, going on TV etc etc, which is essentially living with the Jones's.
As Christians I beleive our sole purpose is to serve God, and by doing His works we serve mankind and hopefully make the world a better place for all mankind.
God loves the sinner, not the sin.

not probable. guy or woman Christians and Jews could have any style of relationship with one yet another yet the two faiths are very separate and each so often pay any interest to one yet another.

no, it doesn't all go to good works. many "christians" basically steal from people who believe in them because they are crooks praying on the gullible people who think they understand christianity when they really don't have a clue.
