customs value of used electronic goods?

I am moving to USA and I wonder how much value should I put down to the my used home cinema, it's not selling for 1/4 it's value. I understand US customs dont tax if you are moving home but how do I prove the length of ownership as I have lost the reciepts three years ago

It's only going to be a problem if you have 30 identical items in brand new unopened boxes ..

Check the Mfg. date on the label on the back == it's a good indicator of age.
