That is oe question. I have had for a long time. What exactly does it mean to not judge. Does it mean not judge meanly or not judge anything or anyone at all? Like if you had a gut feeling that someone is bad. Should I have that feeling or was I wrong to judge them by my gut feeling they are bad. Like sometimes hateful ideas come into me before I know someone or a group of people. I naturally categorize or maybe judge them without knowing them. Is categorizing people judging? What exactly does the bible mean to not judge. What is acceptable?

Unless you can pass off judgement for a very justifiable reason or personal knowledge

do not judge situations or people based on appearances.

I think this is what it means.

I think it means to not judge at all. It could be a goal of a person to not judge anything or anyone but they could also have an understanding that this goal is not reachible while they remain human and or possibly anything at all. To not judge at all is something I cant even express in words and I dont know if I honestly really want to reach that stage ever.

If I say that you are a good person I have judged you, have I not?But it seems to be okay to judge if its positive.People fail to read on to verse 5 of Matthew 7,verse 1 is where they stop and what Jesus is really saying is not to judge if your going to be a hypocrite.Verse 5 says to get the beam out of your own eye, then you can see clearer to get the mote out of your brothers eye.Matthew 18:15-17 Here Jesus provides us with the church excommunicating someone, that's judging! Isaiah 1:17 tells us to "seek judgment" what is it that the righteous have to hide? And why would we want to hide it anyway if we love the Lord as we ought?

Id have to go along with Northstar.
Its really gods place to do the judging,
we just be dilligent in doing in whats right,
and forgive our enemys.
Heres a nice verse on allowing god in a
situation.

Romans 12:19
19 Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord.

Hope this helps...

The word "judge" is used in two different ways. One way is to discern the difference between right and wrong and then act accordingly. This kind of judging is not only permissible but required. The other way the word is used is to stand in the place of God and condemn. It is only this latter definition of judging that we are not to do.

Acceptance without condition. Allowing everything to be precisely what it chooses to be. Unconditional love. Placing any kind of label on something that is not of their expressed choosing is judgment. If you wish to learn how to not do this, start with yourself and upon the realization that everything else is you, you can then apply it to the rest of the world. Judging yourself only limits the possibilities of your being.

It's nearly impossible not to categorize people since that's how our minds work, but I think judging people means that you think your better than them or that you wouldn't do what they do if you were in a similar situation.

It's important to try and be understanding because none of us knows what we would do if we were in someone esle's shoes.

Try this as a solution to your dilemma:
Treat everyone you come in contact with as though they were Jesus Christ. You'll find it very hard to judge a person inwardly or outwardly if you thought of them as if they were the Christ.
