ok So I always hear how writers or actors say that a show's final episode should be natural (for lack of better words)
but some finales are disappointing.

So what are some good "final episodes" in television?

It was kind of sentimental, but the final episode of M*A*S*H was probably the best I've seen in my life.

Northern Exposure - if you remember that one (from the 90s), it finished with the song My Town (Iris de Ment), which if you have never heard it, is a soft sort of folky country song about all the memories of the person's town and their feelings as the person is leaving the next day. With that they showed the characters going about their lives, finishing as I recall with Ed pulling down the blind on his window. That was a natural ending, maybe. The ending was not disappointing I thought - what was disappointing was that the show ended (but even in that song is the line 'it's true what they say nothing good ever lasts' - probably a fair call for a tv series that lasted a few series and really only lost something when Rob Morrow's character left). It was a quirky show with good characters and great scenery. In my opinion, one of the best US shows. Good question. :) And the answer about MASH is spot on I think - the characters saying goodbye after all they had been through and the war was over. It was happy and sad at the same time. And what happens with Cpl. Klinger was great.

I can't think of one good final episode. The most you can hope for is a final episode that is less bad than the others and doesn't completely changing the meaning of the entire series, the way that Quantum Leap did.

six feet under - best finale ever. That was an excellent show and the ending was so fitting. It was thoughtful, beautiful and poignant. I still get chills thinking about now, it was just perfect.

Wow, i was about to say the seinfeld one too... I have to admit that was a very seinfeldesque ending, so of course it was hilarious. I also enjoyed the seventh heaven ONLY because I hate that show and laughed as i watched it die. Now all that needs to go is gilmore girls. GOD i hate that show!

I have been so disappointed; Prison Break, 24, Sopranos and The Shield were all huge let downs!

I suppose its pretty hard to please us Americans because we're pretty much desensitized and it takes a lot to phase us, but I have personally been very disappointed.
