Doesn't anyone read the Bible any more? Mary was a LEVITE according to Luke. Matthew and Luke do give two different lineages to Joseph, but, according to both gospels, he didn't do Mary prior to Jesus's birth--meaning that Jesus was of neither lineage. Maybe one of David's progeny married one of Mary's Levite ancestors along the way, but this is not recorded in the Bible.
The virgin birth story appears to have been a late development in the Jesus mythology. (Mark knows nothing of it.) It appears to have been grafted onto existing stories where Jesus *did* descend from David via Joseph. The Davidian prophecy seems to have slipped the minds of the virgin birth story keepers, and the redactors of both gospels missed the boat while harmonizing the accounts. Either that, or they had ideas of heredity that were completely foreign to modern thought.
This sort of conflation wouldn't be unusual. Many Bible narratives were conflated from various earlier stories, from Genesis on down. Two creation stories are told; the flood story appears to be a merger of two different stories; some gospel stories are told twice even within the same gospel (e.g., feeding the multitudes); and even some epistles, such as 2 Corinthians and 2 Thessalonians, appear to be conflations of several letters.

the two Mary and Joseph have been appropriate to David Joseph as criminal mom or father and Mary contained in direction of the start of Jesus. Joseph is going each and every of the until now to Solomon however the promise replaced into carried to mary by means of Davids Son Nathan. LUke 3 Many cultures did not keep the genealogies yet Israel did. They have been destroyed even though in 70Ad whilst the temple replaced into burned down so now very few can perceive which tribe they have been from.

Jesus earthly father Joseph was related to David, but through Coniah (Jehoiachin, son of Jehoiakim), and therefore couldn't sit on the throne. (Jeremiah 22:30) However, Jesus mother Mary was also related to David, but through Nathan, and not Jehoiachin. Since Jesus was related to David through Joseph, He had the right to sit on the throne of David. But, he couldn't be physically related to Joseph because of the curse God put on the throne through this lineage. This means that Jesus had to be the son of Joseph, but not physically related to him, and yet he had to be a physical descendant of David. Imagine the depths of the complexity of this scenario. Since Jesus was physically related to David through Mary, He fulfilled the requirements of the position. This is so amazing that no one could have ever thought of such a thing, except the Almighty God of creation. (It shows that He is a loving God as well)

Joseph and Mary are both descendents of David. However, Jesus is only physically descended thru Mary because of the virgin birth. The geneology of Jesus thru Mary's line is recorded in the Gospel of Luke, chapter 3.

In a way....aren't we all related?
The linegage of Christ is a long and complicated one. In the beginning of the New Testament, you'll find the LONG and drawn out list of the line of Christ.....You'll be able to find it there....Good luck though, that part bores me (no offense).
