Like one of the previous members said, get your hair layered & thinned out.

The other thing you can do is just get it cut short. Something like this but w/o all the styling gel: http://www.matrix.com/find_your_hair_style/mens/style_12.aspx?scroll=0

My husband has thick, wavy hair that grows outward rather than downward so he keeps it sort because it's easier.

Here's another option - it's a little looser & natural looking: http://mensfashion.about.com/od/goominghair/ss/PEf05hairshort_5.htm

Get it thinned out A LOT. You can also dye or bleach it a lighter color. Products to reduce frizz or to smooth your hair will help as well.

Get it thinned out by whoever does your hair. Their is so many products you can get at the store that can reduce the frizz. Try some bedhead products. That's what my brother does.

Apply pantene conditioner everyday. Once in a week apply a mixture of eggyolk and honey and shampoo(pantene) it off .Use shampoo only once in a week, but conditioner can be used daily.
*NOTE-USE ONLY PANTENE SHAMPOO MADE FOR DRY AND DAMAGED HAIR.

Did you try using styling gel to "tame" it, a straightening iron will also keep the poof down.
