We've found fossils and stuff that prove that they existed...so where do they fit in? If adam and eve were fully human when they came to the earth as the first people, then were the cavemen completely separate? And the book of mormon doesnt mention any T-Rexes or anything...how do you explain these 2 descoveries?

Just so you know there is no mention of dinosuars or anything in the bible either-and the story of the creation is also mainly found in the bible. so it's not just a mormon question k, here it goes - the earth was created in 7 days. But 7 days earth time, is not the same as 7 days Gods' time. He works off of the time table of eternity. So for sake of explanation lets say 1 day earth time is 1,000 years eternity time. Animals were placed on the earth a couple of days before adam and eve. So essentially animals roamed the earth for 2,000 years (just a figurative number) before adam and eve ever were placed on this planet. It is very possible that all the scientific research that points to the age of the earth and dinosuars and everything occured in this time frame. 2,000 years is a seriously long time!!! All of that could have taken place, and with time to spare! This is my opinion, and the thing that makes the most sense to me. This is not something that the church has come out and said is the way it happened. It is one of those things that i am sure will be answered, if not in this life time, than in the next. But they did exsist, and in my opinion, this theory satifies both sides of creationist and christians (LDS). Hope that helped!:) Good question!

The church has not taken an official stance on the subject, in this area each member is entitled to there own opinions, because God apparently hasn't revealed very much on this subject yet.

Most members of the church do not take Genesis literally but symbolically.

The bible places Adam and Eve about 4 to 6,000 years, that 4 to 6 is not 4-6 thousand years as we know it, because it is symbolic time. There are many things in Genesis that young earthers and creationists take literally that should be taken symbolically.

My understanding is that the entire earth was in a Celestial state prior to the fall, and then after the fall it became Tellestrial.

Some of the Church authorities in the first half of the century believed in the young earth and creationist theories, but that was never doctrine just opinion.

So I guess the churches best advice to its members would be; keep an open mind, for God has not revealed all things yet.

I was raised a catholic and I always believed in the theory of the Bible about the beginning of humanity and I still believe that. I have taken classes about the cavemen stuff and still today I believe that it is like another subject. And the dinosaur stuff I've always believed that they were in earth before Adam and Eve. I even wanted to be a paleontologist as a child.
The dinosaurs and the cavemen are not in the Book of Mormon because the book doesn't go so much back time, it is mainly about the prophets who lived in America and it started with Nephi only 600 years before Christ.

First, IN MY OPINION:

The Biblical story of Adam and Eve MIGHT be more allegorical, but I don't know. I don't know that I take it COMPLETELY literally.

When the world was created, it might have been that it took things some time to get straightened out.

The Bible does mention "leviathan", which could be a dinosaur of sorts.

I don't know anything for sure, because I'm no scientist or anything, just a humble SAHM. I tell people I know enough about everything to know that I don't know much about anything. But, someday, it will all be explained. Until then, I don't really concern myself overly.

I've always believed dinosours were on earth before Adam and Eve.

But you're getting issues confused the Book of Mormon does not replace the Bible... the BoM only covers a time period of about 600 years.

Mormons use the KJV Bible along with the BoM.

Basically, they don't. When I was growing up and going to Seminary class, we were taught that the earth was 7,000 years old. There is no way to reconcile scientific evidence and church teachings.

The whole premise of the Book of Mormon is that Israelites migrated to the Americas and that their progeny left after many years of wars became our modern day American indians. Genetic tracking now shows that that was impossible. Overwhelming evidence points to the migration of Asian peoples to the Americas. One group came over the Bering Straight during the last Ice Age, and other people came from the Islands of Southeast Asia by boat.

There is also no evidence of some of the animals and plants mentioned in the Book of Mormon during the time of the Nephites and Lamanites. Also, there has never been any actual archeological sites that can be traced to Book of Mormon cities or landmarks.

It is simply a matter of faith. Trying to make things match up between scientific evidence and scriptural writing is difficult to impossible to do. You just have to choose what you want to belive.

I believe that God created the earth and everything in it, and he had his hand in everything, evolution included. It's called Intelligent Design. Why are you asking this only to Mormons? We believe in the Bible, but so do many other Christian religions. Most Christians that I know, whether Mormon, Methodist, Baptits, etc... believe like I do about this.

The Holy Bible actually does leave room for dinosaurs. I don't know about cavemen, but those are man's discoveries and I go by what God said in the bible. All the evidence for the "missing link" has been disproven. You don't hear a lot about that.
