Don't be afraid to venture out and subject your child to the cultural world. I only wish I saw parents teach their children more and involve them in interesting things. Ppl want to be so typical and throw their kid onto a T-Ball team... the same parents that are obsessed w/ their local Football team... I wish the average person would join a more cultural world. The more a child learns the more his/her mind will expand. 3 is kind of early to start anything and at the age of four the child would prove more adaptive.

No way! Tap dance is far from being girly. There were many famous actors from in and around the 40's who were excelent tap dancers. It'll be good for him, especially at 3.

I think that's really cool! It is better to have your child involved in something when they're young. Tap dancing is healthy for BOTH boys and girls, and I can see no negative effects your son might experience unless there are some stupid slaves who like to make fun of little children. since when did dancing become only for girls? who do girls dance with? other girls? then what? are they too boyish now? NO NO NO there's nothing wrong with it. but to ensure that your son doesn't feel out of place, make sure there are other boys in the class too! then you could talk to the other boys' parents too and get some ideas from them!

good luck! i hope your son enjoys tap dancing!

I think you should. I don't think it's girly, there are a lot of male tap dancers. If fact, I can't remember the last time I saw a female tap dancer. It's been a while. It's good training and would also help to keep him healthy with excercise.

While he might not like it enough to stay in it when he's older, it is a GREAT idea to expose your children to all kinds of activities - not just "boy" sports and "girl" sports.

Tap dance teaches so many great skills that can be used in other activities. The best football players take dance lessons. I say go for it.

No, not too girly. Good for you for being open minded. He can join the cast of STOMP one day. People are silly about thinking a harmless, healthy activity like dance can turn their son "gay". If you ask me, wrestling has far more homoerotic undertones than dance....and that's a "manly" sport. :)
