It's just awful. Especially when people start getting uncomfortable and you hear them shuffling around. I'm glad these churches are going bankrupt.

Unfortunately, not all priests are prolific speakers. Then again, many of them are. Perhaps you should start looking in another parish for a priest who's oratory skills are more to your liking.

That would be the intellectually honest thing to do, rather than paint all priests with a broad brush, calling ALL of them boring. I'm afraid that is just not the case. I know several prolific priests. I've heard from some not-so prolific.

They're out there. It's just that you might have to look for them.

Also, there is the possibility that the problem is not the priest(s). It may very well be that your heart is simply not "into it".

Um, the Catholic Church would not sign out particular communities to sentence. i've got on no account been to a mass that condemns human beings for rushing or playing the two. We frequently have the bible study to us and the priest discusses it. The Mafia's no longer interior the Bible, so we've not got sermons approximately it.

Why are Evangelicals boring? Why are Buddhist boring? Why is your 5th hour social studies teacher boring? Where does it say one needs to be comfortable to listen politely? Amish sit on short (1/2 the length of your legs) benches for 3-4 hours for their church services.

If you don't get anything out of the sermon are you actually listening? I bet not. I bet you are looking around letting your mind wander about what you are going to do when you get out of church.

It is all in the eye of the beholder.

Some Catholic priests (like my pastor) are gifted preachers while other Catholic priests (like my former pastor) are not. The same is true of Protestant ministers. Some are gifted in that particular area, others are not.

MAtt 16:18 And I tell you, you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the powers of death shall not prevail against it.

Because it's no longer socially acceptable to be a priest. Not many good preachers want to become a priest because of the molestation scandals too.

Because they don't get any extra pay whether or not they give a good sermon or a bad one. Besides, they don't get extra marks if they don't grow their community. They just get transferred from one parish to another.
