There's a guy I want to get to know as a friend, NOT FOR SEX. You people on here are crazy at assuming things. I want to be his friend, not his girlfriend is what I meant. How do I approach him in a way that doesn't freak him out or assume I'm looking for that kind of relationship?

hmmm there really isnt a way of "approaching" someone without them thinking that there's a hidden motive. but just something as simple as starting a related conversation to what you or he is doing seems normal and friendly.

it's nearly impossible in high school and below, but I'd probably just walk up to him and tell him, "Look you seem pretty cool and i want to hang out, but don't get that crazy look in your eye. Just as friends because while many girls may like you, I'm just here for the friendship pal."

then again I'm pretty bold at those things, and people usually go along with it because I scare the crap outta them when I just say what/how I'm thinking.

Suggest doing something together with other people. Tell him that you're looking for a friend to hang out with, nothing else...some guys need a blunt message rather than a hint. Set him up with one of your girl friends, and give advice.
It usually has to be obvious.

I think you'd do good to approach him like you'd approach anyone else . . . if he looks like he's getting the wrong idea, mention your boyfriend (even if you don't have one) or just tell him straight up that he isn't your type. Saying you aren't ready for a relationship is a bad idea . . . it could make him wait for you to change your mind. Good night!

You should just show yourself friendly and talk to him. After awhile you should start calling him buddy and tell him that he's a great friend. Also don't do anything suggestive like sitting in his lap, that would be taking two steps back.

Why are you jonesn on the friendship? Sounds like your sweatn it a bit....if it is just that then allow it to happen naturally and know that guys don't take it that way so you gotta be careful - he won't be all like she wants to be my friend, he'll be like she wants me
