NEVER EVER use a Q-tip in your ear. This only pushes ear wax farther into the canal and can puncture your eardrum. Ear wax comes out on it's own. When new wax is made it pushes out the old wax so you can wipe it away with a washcloth when you shower or bath. If you have trouble with excess wax then use debrox to help soften it so it comes out. SInce you said it was dark yellow and had a bad odor to it that means something is wrong see the doc tomorrow and get it checked out and treated and for now leave your ears alone.

Don´t over clean your ears with Q-tips. It will just produce more wax. Also, if you wear headphones a lot or anything that covers your ears, you should be careful not to wear them for long periods of time because it doesnt allow your ears to "breath" and can cause infection. Just use a cottonball and the tip of your finger to clean out what you can reach, and let your body do its thing. If you feel it´s way too much or the wax looks bad, go to a doctor and have them check you out.

Ear candles. They're gross....but cool.

You get an ear candle at a grocery store that sells organic foods. They come coated in paraffin or beeswax. I like paraffin better. You light the end w/ a lighter, tamp out the flame so it smokes only, then stick the other end in your ear. It's good to use a paper plate at the bottom so you don't get ashes on your face.

Anyway, the smoke DRAWS the wax out of your ear. When you're all done you can dump all the wax out of the candle onto the plate....it's GROSS. THere is so much there, it's unbeleivable that much was in your head! :P

As already mentioned by others, using Q-tip is not likely to help much; it'll merely push the wax further in. Using peroxide could be harmful, especially if you have inadvertently injured your canal skin while attempting wax removal. The best way is to see your ear specialist. If the amount substantial, he can remove it by simple syringing of the ear using lukewarm water. Infection is likely especially if you have itching -- most likely a fungal infection. It can easily be treated by using ear drops.

The smallest thing you should stick in your ear is your elbow. That's right, it won't fit! And you shouldn't stick anything in you ear. Warm water from your shower is enough to remove ear wax, but if you have screwed it all up by digging around in there and pushing ear wax further in, you may need to see a doctor to have your ear irrigated, and maybe get some antibiotics.

First, go to a doctor to get them checked.
Second, there are these "candles" you place the open tip into your ear and light the bottom on fire (YOU MUST HAVE SOMEONE ELSE DO IT!!!!!!!!!!!) and then, somehow, it sucks out your excess ear wax into the candle, which, when you're done, you can just throw out. It's amazing and they come with instructions.

Best Wishes.

Get to the doctor immediately. He can clean them out very easily. Otherwise you could damage your hearing. Don't wait.
