I try to organize all my errands so I start and finish the shortest way possible, also driving down the freeway if you drive 55 instead of 65 you will save 20% in gas consumption. You notice if you drive slower your gas consumption really goes down, I know everyone is in such a hurry but just slowing down a little will help alot!
We all need to help with gas consumption and also global warming.

1. I've always owned cars that give good gas mileage. I've never had a car with more than 4 cylinders.
2. I don't drive anywhere unless I have a good reason. I try to combine reasons into single trips.
3. I use gas-saving driving techniques:
- a - Avoid jack-rabbit starts.
- b - Use the highest gear possible.
- c - Avoid using the brakes unless absolutely necessary.
- d - Plan the trip for the shortest trip distance and the fewest stops.
- e - Keep the car in good mechanical condition and the tires fully inflated.

In trying to save gas, I am trying alternatives to driving. This includes walking that extra distance which could be beneficial to your health, using public transportation (bus, subway) or just biking. Using public transportation is meaningful but it still contributes to gas usage except that less gas is consumed rather than all 50 people individually driving their own vehicles wasting alot of gas. Anything helps the environment, i especially appreciate biking because it is transport and gives you exercise at the same time.

I drive a VW Rabbit (diesel) now that gets about 45 MPG, instead of our Dodge Ram PU that gets about 19. The only time we drive the truck is when we need to pull the utility trailer or haul something. We live about 10 miles out of town so I only go to town about once a week. If I forget something, unless it is important, I do without until the next time I am in town. No unnecessary trips. My daughter and I do our shopping together. Also, if my husband is going to town for something, I have him stop for things I might need.
It isn't that we can't afford to buy fuel, it's just that I think as long as people keep buying it at the same rate as they were before the prices started up---again---that they will continue to rise. It's up to us to say enough is enough!!

I sold my car in January and bought a bike. When I really NEED a car I just rent one. Lot cheaper than having a car just to pay insurance while it sits in a driveway or parking lot.
I am also designing a product that will save you up to 30% of your gas but that is still in the prototype stage.

I moved to a city where there was public transportation regularly available. I sold my car and rarely use cabs. I use the bus or trains.
It's not easy though. Not everyone lives in a place where it's practical to change their transportation habits. Hybrid cars might be a good answer, taking fewer trips, carpooling, or moving closer to your destination so that you can walk instead of drive.

Me? Well, see, I'm not driving my car. I have sworn not to drive a car anywhere for the next 2 years, no matter what comes up. I think that might help. More people should do this. That and the fact that I'm 14. We have plenty of gas.

I have spent the last 2 years without a car at all.Of course its only possible to do living in an urban area with transit service. If you live somewhere withot this option-think about each individual car trip and what you might do to combine your errands at once
