My wife is helping me... but she is a christian (baptist)
A few years ago after I finished university I went to the south pacific and volunteered in a hospital and did this:

I'm an atheist...
...and I'm a paramedic. Not a day goes by, where I don't do something that's humane or kind.
The act I'm most proud of, however, has nothing to do with work. I've managed to find homes for several stray and abandoned dogs and cats, who would have been put to sleep or worse, if I hadn't done anything. It was a bit of a personal sacrifice at times (living with three dogs, only one was "mine"), but it was worth it.
Everyone is capable of both great evil and incredible kindness, whether atheist, Christian, or other.

I am a polite person in public, I would not consider myself to be nominated for a Nobel peace prize. It is not like I am volunteering all of my life away every day, I actually would rather enjoy it. I work full time, pay taxes, take care of my child and wife.
The one thing I would say would be the most humane thing would be that I did not vote for Bush.. I actually did research instead of just voting because he is a true blue Christian..
I also like to be an honest person, and spread knowledge I have accumulated. Not everyone likes to hear facts, and theories and thus consider me as being inhumane. This is often evident in real life as well as here.

Choose for yourself:
1. Since 1996, I have voluteered 8 to 16 hours a week (on average) at various children's hospitals.
2. Every Christmas since 2001, I buy, for each child at a Tampa abused children's center, toys, socks, shoes, shirts, and jeans (and sometimes dresses for the girls). Two of my friends and I do the shopping ourselves based on lists provided by the shelter. I pay for the items since I like to do so.
3. I donate blood once every two weeks even though I am terrified of needles (that's my only fear).
4. I occasionally voluteer at homeless shelters. I probably do this once a month an average.
5. I have taken part in the Big Brother/Sister program since I was in high school. I'm in my thirties now.
6. I recycle.
7. I donate money and items to the Red Cross.
8. Some of my friends and I rented two moving trucks, loaded them with water, blankets, clothes, and toys, and then we drove to Mississippi to help the victims of Hurricane Katrina. I usually don't celebrate Christmas, but on that one I did wrap presents for the kids. We went up there three days before Christmas, and we returned home on the 27th. We used the trucks to help cleanup efforts after we unloaded them.
9. I rescued a kitty that was stuck in a tree a couple of years ago. I found her a really nice home with my best friend, who treats her like a kid. She even dressed her up for Halloween last year. It was so cute!
Also, I have never used any of my donations as tax breaks on my yearly income tax forms.

I love my family and give support. I work at a food bank giving my time, I have given money when I could to various charities as well as give food to the homeless as well as extra blankets when I have them. We always give a couple of turkeys to the salvation army every Thanksgiving and Christmas, Also, What I haven't done should be considered. I haven't stolen or robed anybody. I don't take drugs I try to treat people with empathy and kindness. I live a good moral life to the best of my ability.

Promoted the merits of the free thinking, agendaless, and altruistic pursuit of knowledge of the natural world, so that we may all be better custodians of nature, the world and our childrens future..
At the same time highlighing the ignorance, arrogance, denial and damaging lies that the religious fundies use in an attempt to undermine this far more noble and productive pursuit..
We were born to explore, and we can't do that with our heads in the collective religious sand..!

There is no one thing that springs to mind. I just try to treat others as I would like to be treated. I do donate to charity quite a bit, and have been known to get a bit too generous when drunk!! but that's a whole other story!!
Oh yeah, and i did a 24 hour fast for charity.

I served two and a half years as a Peace Corps Volunteer, helping some of the poorest people in Asia.
My current career, which I have dedicated my life to, is helping our environment.

Volunteering at shelters, donating blood, helping people on the street for no reason, take you pick. What is the most compassionate thing christians have done? Probably pray.
