If you're a scientist, I'm an animated pudding pop. You conveniently forget that Science's track record does not exactly instill confidence. I was taught that Pluto was a planet and the Steady State Theory (or Einstein's Universe) was as reasonable as the Big Bang. Even better, remember phrenology, the canals of Mars, alchemy, blood-letting, and the notion that the sun orbited the earth? Each of these was backed by critical scientific thinking. I'm not religious, but at least religion sticks to its story. Why would I embrace a belief system that continually proves itself to be wrong? Sorry, but that doesn't sound very reasonable to me. I'll get excited about Science when you guys can explain the biological basis of consciousness, what the universe is made of, and how quantum mechanics works. How's that going, by the way?

ummmmmm how about 14.7 billion years ago there was for no apparent reason a really "Big Bang" and without any discernable cause the universe was created and out of all the planets that ensued on this one planet, again for no apparent reason and without cause, life began some X billion years ago when some other random event caused two cells to unite and crawl out of a primordial cesspool and from that all life on this planet derived.
Now that is a leap of faith!

Flat Earth society. There are ways you can prove Earth is spherical from right here on the Earth. Still, we have people who still believe it is flat (I've read their work, seen both sides).
