hatching an egg requires an incubator - you also need to know what species the egg is because different birds require different temperatures, humidity and how many times the egg is turned.
you can NOT hatch a newly laid egg under a heatlamp unless you are very lucky... this is because 1.5 degrees too hot or too cold and the egg will die.

however...

if the egg is only a week away from hatching, you can hatch it. you need a heatlamp, a small box, a thermometre and a damp cloth (in the box to provide humidity).
it helps to know the species so you can look up what temp you should keep it at.

warning - newly hatched wild birds need to be fed every 10-15 minutes from dawn til dusk - thats more than 120 feedings per day.

its much wiser to leave the egg in its nest or hand it over to professional avain rehabilitators.

I had just hatched 2 eggs, 2 eggs are still left
I took a shoebox, put a towel in, and took a heatlamp where the temp has to be between 96.8-104.9
After it hatches you need to have a heating pad, papertowels, syringes and special baby bird formula.
Here is also a website that gives great info

Yes!! My dad did!! He had an incubator for his quail and found a pheasant egg it hatched but it died no mom to feed it ! It was so sad!! If you don't have an incubator just keep it warm with a tea towel and a hot water bottle or an electric blanket would be better! Keep it warm not hot!! The egg maybe dead already if you just found it abandoned!!
