My cable line runs through 3 splitters (a 2way, 3way, and 2way) and then into a signal booster before reaching my HDTV. Am I getting the full signal strength and how would I be able to tell? Also, my cable box to the tv is linked by an HDMI cable. Is this neccassary? If the coaxial is analog format to begin with will the digital cord be of any benefit? Please help, I'm trying to maximize the picture on a very large investment.

You are confusing two different sets of cables. The coax cable carries a high-frequency signal like the one coming off of a TV transmitter. The HDMI cable carries the video signal only after it has been demodulated and decoded by the cable box. Depending on the signal strength from the cable company, it is possible for a large number of splitters to degrade the signal and make reception unreliable. You would know this right away, as your TV picture would "pixellate" (break up into little squares) if the signal got weak. If this does not happen, and you get a picture reliably, then the quality of the picture will not depend on the strength of the signal reaching the TV. You should not be using a booster after the splitters; it will only make things worse. I would take it out. If you want to use the booster, connect it BEFORE the signal reaches the splitters.

As long as ur cable box is connected to the TV by an HDMI, then ur getting a good picture. The splitters wont affect ur picture unless the COAX is directly connected to the TV.

With all due admire to between the replies... stay removed from those much less high priced cable amplifiers. maximum cable companies have severe high quality amplified splitters like those made by technique of SVI digital yet you should ask (plead!) for them. The loss using a sort of would be minimum and a few have 4 to eight outputs.
