Although you daughter may not remember it as an adult, she WILL be talking about her birthday for many months to come. I honestly think a Chuck E. Cheese party is too much and she may not remember her birthday party being anything more than another trip to Chuck E. Cheese.
I was so worried about my son’s 2nd birthday – what theme, what food, how many games? Turns out, simpler is better, and you don't overwhelm the guest of honor. She is going to go crazy for balloons, cakes and decorations, not to mention all the presents.
One or two little games, maybe a small piñata and some little goodie bags - you’ve got all the makings of a really memorable party for her. If you’ve got room, renting one of those inflatable jumpers is a hit with all ages. This way, she gets to be the “star” not Chuckie!

My son will also be 2 in 2 weeks, we are not having a big party this year either, chuck e cheese can be a fun place, but is to much for a toddler, to much sensory imput, that would be better for say a 5 year old. Family events would be just as fun to a 2 year old, that is what we are doing this year. If you want to spice up a family party, add a pinata and some simple games, pin the tail on the donkey...etc. Good luck!

Wow, you sound like you are planning a wedding. Games? For a one year old??? For my daughters first birthday which was in March (I live in Canada, it was winter), I invited about 8 couples with kids. We had snacks and birthday cake. We opened presents. The kids played. Erika had a nap smack in the middle of the party. Everyone had fun. The kids, mostly her age but some 4 and 5, played with the wrapping paper and empty boxes. We took tons of pictures. Everyone went home. If I was doing it again, i would not change a thing, it was awesome. And very laid back. Edit- i agree that a first birthday is a huge deal - as someone else said, to the parents, not the kids. If you are spending two and a half months planning your kids first birthday party, you are losing sight of the whole idea. It's supposed to be fun. Suggestions - go with a couple other kids to Pizza Hut and have pizza and cake, and take lots of pictures and open gifts.

There's spacewalks(jumping jacks), clowns would prob. scarfe some of the kids, maybe not. It's summer a water party. My little brother had a party at chucks a he had fun. He was afraind of Chucky though lol. A big house party like in the backyard, where the kids and parents could have fun. Maybe at a park, with a grill and balloons. A pinata, a cake with her fav. cartoon, noise makers, the clowns that make balloon animals. Oh a don't forget a camcorder to make sure she knows all the hard work you put into making her happy when she gets older. lol and maybe some embarrassing parts too. Tell her I said happy bday

Who cares what you're "expected" to do? What do you think she would like? At this age, it's still too much to have a big party. Just family should be fine. If you want to ask other children, I suggest no more than three or four. Chuck E. Cheese is really too much, and not really age-appropriate. It can be scary for small children. I suggest a picnic in the park with maybe a few games or simple crafts.

Keep it low key and have it at home. Overstimulating two-year-olds in a noisy jangly place like Chuck E. Cheese is a recipe for tantrums. Avoid artificial color and flavors in the treats--they set some kids off like you wouldn't believe!
There's no reason to have a big birthday party before a child is five--that's when they and their friends are ready to handle a little more excitement--a LITTLE more.
Most birthday disasters are the result of overly ambitious party plans. Each year can be a little more elaborate than the last. Start off small or you will have no room for growth by the time you get to the really memorable landmark years.

i would not go to chuck e. cheese at the age of two. you want to do that when they can remember it ages 7 or 8 would be a good time to do that. I would have a beach party though that way everyone has fun. it is so hot in august that the only thing people want to do is get wet.

I threw a party for my sons first birthday last aug and it was moslty fam and a few friends of the fam. I had a blow up water slide for the like 4-6yr olds and a little pool for little ones. I just did pizza and cup cakes and a cake. I did an elmo theme last yr. This yr he will be 2 in Aug and I have been going crazy myself on what to do. I think you should just do it at ur house and have it outside with family. Maybe if you have alot of kids in your family you can rent or buy a little blow up like bouncer that ur daughter can enjoy too. Good luck and have fun.

Chucky Cheese is a great its fun for little kids but if your thinking of having a theme have a sweet theme for the party somthing that she likes. And you will want to take a lot of pictures and possibly camcord the events so it will be memorable.
