I have anxiety, I have panic attacks...and I don't think I can do this anymore. I need to talk to somebody, and I want somebody to give me some words of encouragment. I don't know what could be triggering these anxiety attacks...but here is some information...

When did this start?
The anxiety has been going on for about two months, but I have just shrugged it off and moved on. Now it is far worse and sometimes I will just lay awake one morning shaking.
How often does it happen?
Now it has been happening for three days straight, no stopping. The big attacks happen around noon when I am by myself.
Is there something that triggers this?
Nothing that I know of for sure. The last thing that triggered an anxiety attack was somebody mentioning a doctor on one of my questions. I don't wish to go see a doctor, I am not in pain, I just have some little problems.
How long does it last?
Once it starts it continues for about two hours...or until I go to sleep.

try using something you can play with in your hands to relax. i use a koosh to stay calm. or silly putty. i take out my aggression on that and then close my eyes and take deep breaths. hope you get better :)

Hey, I've have the same problem for many years. and I've gone to great lengths to try to "cure" it. There honestly isn't a cure. But you can control it so it doesn't control your life. I highly recommend that you don't resort to medication! Although they can be effective for a time, the chemicals can make it much worse. You really don't get results into a few months into taking it, and stopping suddenly can cause a withdraw. When you have an anxiety/panic attack, sit or lay down close your eyes and breathe through your nose and try your best to clear your mind. Listen to music or think of something pleasant. Exercise is a great way to relieve stress, as well as a hobby to take your mind off things. Since I've been doing these things I haven't had a panic attack in months. Even though its hard to live with, you will find a way around it!

I have severe anxiety and depression actually one of the worst cases they have seen in my state, which is small anyways being rhode island. My anxiety attacks went so far that I had convulsions and seizures from them though, there are always triggers but if you are not willing to face the present ad the past at the same time to figure out the problem then you are going to keep having this problem and its going to get worse.

If you dont want to see a doctor then your going to suffer because you either have to talk with someone that knows about this problem thoroughly, which is almost impossible to find or a doctor. I would offer you some advice but yahoo answers is not the place but if you want to email me feel free.

First I would tell your parent or guardian to take you to the doctor to have a blood test done.
Anxiety attacks can also hide possible adrenal failure which is the gland that controls your adrenaline. You maybe feeling a constant adrenaline rush and not so much a panic attack.
If the symptoms go away when you go to sleep it's most likely mentally triggered. Try any and all relaxation methods starting with deep breathing until you can relax your nerves.
Doctors however are there to help you let them do their jobs it may just save your life or give you back a normal one.

I've had these since I was in my 20's. My moms death triggered it. The cure for these things is long and varied. Some people get help merely by talking to a counselor, Some need meds.
Because of your age. I would suggest you get your thyroid checked and your heart. Both of these coupled with your period can bring about these things.
IF those are ruled out. I would suggest finding something else to focus on instead of worrying about a panic attack. Look around your room or your place at the time. Notice the colors, notice the textures. Try writing out your thoughts in a journal.
But I really would suggest talking to your mom about these things.

I understand your pain. I have them too. I have the slightest clue when or how they started, It's just like one day..boom..there they were. Your heart beats out of your chest, you can't breath, and it feels like your insides are shaking when your body's not moving.
But, you know what? There IS relief, and there IS help out there.
I know that you mentioned that you don't want to see a doctor, but I swear to you they can help. I was prescribed two sorts of medications, and you know what? I only took them for about 3-4 months, and I've not had a true panic attack in over a year! While on the meds, I was able to learn about anxiety and begin to understand what my triggers are. Then, I was able to control them, and find ways to either remove them from my life or at least prepare myself for them thus thwarting a possible attack or make it smaller.
You can do this...it feels like death coming in, but it's not I promise. Know that there is someone out there who understands and is sending you a gentle hug.

At 13 your body is going through lots of bizarre changes. It happens to EVERYONE.

I'm not gonna say that all the people here who tell you Meds are the way to go is wrong...I believe they can help many people for many things. However, you may need to take some responsibility for yourself.

Are you eating right (food can effect your whole being)?,
exercising(VERY important)?;
making to do lists so you don't get overwhelmed?;
do you have any hobbies that make you feel good?,
have you done any charity work(don't laugh, this really can affect a person)?, any clubs you've thought about joining??

I hope you try some or all of these ideas before you consider medicine...unfortunately many mood altering medications have a bad effect on people in their teens.

Good Luck to you.

Not meaning to set you off, I think you may benefit from a doctor. They're not there to set you up or trap you into doing something you don't want to do, but they can help you. I know this because I myself suffer from the same thing. I see a psychologist and we work with a book called "The Anxiety and Phobia Workbook". It's been very helpful in teaching me ways to calm myself and change the way I approach things. I really think you should consider getting some help because it's really tough to live they way you're living, you deserve better. Especially at 13, you're too young to have to deal with this by yourself. Talk to your parents and they'll help you and support you. Good Luck.

You need to see your doctor. I've had panic attacks for many years now. They seem to come out of nowhere and usually for no reason. They can feel like they last forever. Talk to your mom or dad and go see your doctor. There are meds available that treat this.
