Ahh, Eagle, now you've gone and made me pout. I collect angels...
Anyway, the artistic little figurines you see, on up to the classic paintings, are only representions of the "real deal"...the "wings" were added to represent their ability to move from heaven to earth and back again in "the blink of an eye."
You know, it never occurred to me to wonder whether or not there might be air in heaven. I dunno if there is air or not, but...why wouldn't there be? The way I read it, God is rebuilding the entire universe. I don't see why He can't rebuild the planets, complete with whatever atmospheres that go along with them...
Not saying He is going to do that, just speculating.
Imagine, a perfect, pristine planet...the air is clean and fresh, the water is pure, and the sky is clear. Why not?

Cherubim were winged creatures, each having four wings (v. 11; cf. 8). Two wings were extended upward apparently to support the throne-platform and/or in praise to God on the throne. These two wings touched the wings of each neighboring creature (cf. vv. 9, 23). The other two wings were used to cover the body of each creature as a sign of humility and modesty. Isaiah 6:2 and Rev 4:1–11 present similar visions in which the creatures each had six wings. The additional pair of wings was used to shield the faces of the creatures from the face of God.

i think of if angels exist which you're probable suited approximately their in simple terms being drawn that way. i do no longer evaluate heaven to be a place slightly above the Earth the place angels could in trouble-free terms choose wings to fly all the way down to pass to human beings. in spite of the shown fact that, many traditions communicate approximately heaven being above and interior the sky so human beings could think of that wings could get you there. remember the Greek tale the place he flew too close to to the solar and the wings melted and human beings have been warned to no longer attempt to bounce to heaven (or Mount Olympus) the place the Gods have been. it incredibly is achieveable that angels could seem that thank you to human beings with a view to furnish them a picture they'd comprehend and draw somewhat that coming down with their jet packs on their backs on in simple terms popping out of skinny air and having witch and demon yelled at them. I do ask your self how those with greater non secular awareness (clergymen, rabbis. etc,) could answer this question. Psi
