There are pockets of Inglewood as nice as any other suburb of L.A., some very affluent.
I installed cable and data systems at several public schools there in the mid 90's. There were big differences among some neighborhoods, but even the shabby ones were not really bad in my view, just low income. It was apparent that the schools and parents had a keen interest in improving the lives of the students, regardless of the neighborhood's condition.
I was often a 99% minority as a Caucasion but never experienced any abuse or disrespect (at the schools, cafes, stores, gas stations, etc).
The police heavily patrol and are strict, rare to see a drunk stumbling around or someone sleeping on a bus bench. I did think it odd that most police were Caucasion, Hispanic and Asian; very few African-Americans. Maybe that's changed by now.

it really is becoming nicer overall, there are still some parts that are not a desierable place to be in but the city as a whole is starting to look much better, although i wouldn't expect a complete 100% change for another 10 years or so.

No... it will take some years. The place is a dump. Having a nice block in the ghetto does not make it nice. Sorry but I drive by it everyday and I see the problems the city is facing. It will take a long time.

it's improving. I lived there for two years...but that was from 2000 to 2002. My mom is still there and lives in a nicer part. I think they are making an effort to clean things up. Adding nice shopping spots, etc. I still think there is probably a long way to go.

Overall NO...but there are a few nice places in Inglewood, but most of it is overrun with the gang enviorment.
