Why is Manhattan such a important serious city?

and why are the employees well some of them so bossy and messy and teh security guards are bossy too. Why is new york so serious and important, what makes manhattan so special besides money and entertainment. Many workers who are upper class are always on their cell phone, very unfriendly,a nd rude

Very negative question. New Yorkers may seem rude to the people from other parts of the US. But that is the way thing are here. People here work hard and play hard. If you feel that is of your type, you are in. Otherwise, just don't bother. Live in the American heartland with right-wing republicans touting guns and bibles.

True, true, all true. I was born and raised in Brooklyn, and my experience with Manhattanites is that they can be very snooty(not all of them are). I think this stems from the fact that Manhattan is a very expensive city to live in, so the people that live there feel that they're better than people from the "outer boroughs" because THEY can afford to live there. A lot of celebrities live there, and that ties into the superiority complex that a lot of Manhattanites seem to have. "Ooh, Sarah Jessica Parker lives on my block" Who cares?? She's not giving you money, so why do you care??

man these people don't mess around. you slow down in NYC, you'll get trampled. people in Manhattan work hard for what they have. it's not that they are trying to be rude. usually they are so busy they may come off that way. it is one of the fashion capitols of the world and it is the financial capitol of the world. things are not cheap in NY and people mean business.

well i've lived in the upper east side of manhattan most of my life. it's not all the bad as you make it seem.some people ARE rude and unfriendly here but..wait did i just read messy?! *sigh.* i think it's wikipedia time.
